i would have the same feeling had the remake is from known sources and many have seen the original. this movie is not even an english movie. nobody has seen it. so leave aside that prejudice and enjoy the roller-coaster ride.

thats going to happen for sure! He IS, "T H E B E S T" Content Generator for me, in whole of India! அப்படி இருக்கும்போது, ஒரு 3 மணிநேர முழுப்படம் எப்படி நம்ம ஆர்வத்தை தூண்டாம போயிடும்?!? :D :D
If positive box office results are needed, it is best to go with someone else's story. If KH can be convinced about someone else's story only when it is already made and demonstrated in some other language, so be it. Still better.
^ cant agree billu. apoorva sahodarargal, indran chandran, MMKR, TM, virumandi and many more are his brainwaves and became BB/super hit. some art based films like UV, HR, Alavandhan, guna. anbe sivam etc didnt do up to the mark in BO but widely appreciated. few like MX, MMA were forgettable films.
dont agree with 50-50 concept for KH . that can happen to any director's idea. BB/super hit/hit/ave/flop ratio of nammavar's script should be in the vicinity of 20/30/30/10/10
According to some distributors Thoongavanam is going to be released on Novmber 6...
Same source says it is going to be released by "Rajkamal" banner as well...
Thoonga Vanam - Going to get an opening like Vetri Vizha
The BB's/Hit movies you listed out that did well are about 25 years old. If we were to go back about 10 years, even including Virumaandi, the hit rate comes to about 50%.
Among the remakes, VR, PN have done well but not as much UPO (although not a flop).
2004 Virumaandi Virumaandi Hit
2004 Vasool Raja MBBS Hit (remake)
2005 Mumbai Express Flop
2006 Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu Hit (known director)

2010 Manmadhan Ambu Flop
2013 Vishwaroopam Hit
2015 Uttama Villain Flop

Even extending the to 15 yrs, you'll see the same %%. Hey Ram (flop), Tenali (Hit), Aalavandhan (flop), PKS (average), Panchathanthiram (average), Anbae Sivam (flop).
2004 Virumaandi Hit

70% not 50%...
His own direction films 75% success. Chachi 420 superhit. Hey Ram flop. Virumandi hit. Viswa blockbuster.
Your original point of his own written films being 50% is true for last 15 years. Dont change it.
