I am listening to the song "Kaatula Thala" from "Solla Marantha Kathai". Thoroughly enjoyable! Although the other song "Gundumalli" has been a favourite of mine since long time (Shreya Ghoshal sounds beautiful in this song), this "Kaatu Thala" is a new discovery for me. Wonderful song that borders on folk and melody. The song is just like Ilaiyaraaja's plethora of 80s songs. Those interludes and arrangements are his 80s style personified. Nice chords and beautiful bass guitar that doesnt come to the forefront, to retain the folksy (village-ish feel) element of the song. Seems like Naattai scale.

Wonderful composition!
சுவைபட பல பாடல்கள் பகிரும் அனைத்து இசை நெஞ்சங்களுக்கும் கோடான கோடி நன்றி.
ragaas,
'Solla Marantha Kadhai' did not garner as much attention as it should have. 'Gundu Malli, Gundu Malli' is a lovely song. Harish Raghavendar and Shreya do a lovely job. Those were the days when Shreya's Tamil diction still left a lot to be desired but her singing is top notch. 'edho unna nenachen' is also a very nice number sung well by Karthik and Bhava. 'kathula talayatura' has been a personal favourite since I heard it the first time. Sung by Vidhu Pratap. I think he is a Malayalam singer. Haven't heard him much in Tamil movies. I also love 'amma sonna' very much with both Raja and Vijay Jesudas doing a very nice job. And I have atleast written two or three times about how 'Jakkamma' showcases the genius that is Raja. No one has done a drunkard song better in Indian Film Music !!! All in all, an excellent album.
ஆகாய கங்கை (தர்ம யுத்தம், மலேசியா வாசுதேவன், ஜானகி, ரஜினி, ஸ்ரீதேவி, ஆர்.சி.சக்தி இயக்கத்தில்)
My four year old instantly liked the humming in the beginning and forced multiple repeats of that portion on youtube:-) Also the smoothie gimmick with specs by Rajini - nicely synchronizing with the harmonium kuzhaiyal - had multiple repeat viewings!
What a song!
Raja gaaru paattalu koncham ;)
- priyA priyatamA rAgAlu (Killer) (Guitars )
- mila mila nadusinA thArA (NirNayam) (Cool song!)
- oh prEmA (AswamEdham) (With due respects Asha ji :sigh2: )
- sumam sumam (Maharishi?) (Whatay! :notworthy:)
- kanyA kumAri (Bobbili Raja) (As 'drunk' as it can get!)
- subalEkhA rAsukkunnA (some dhonga) (amazing recording quality!)
- mounamEla nOyi (SAgara sangamam) (Totally :notworthy:)
some donga = konda veeti donga
sumam sumam is sumam prathi sumam sumam - a cut above even the exclusively awesome list you have posted above. What ye song!
