REMEMBERING A PHENOMENON….
If there is someone who continues to live in people’s hearts even after 28 years of his demise, it has to be the one and only MG Ramachandran or MGR or Makkal Thilagam.
MGR is an icon who inspires people from all walks of life. He had served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu successively for three terms. His contribution to Tamil cinema and Tamil Nadu politics is paramount.
Today, the 24th December is the death anniversary of this legend and behindwoods pays its respects to the immortal phenomenon called MGR.

Jaya Pays Homage at MGR Memorial
CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Thursday paid floral tributes to her political mentor and party founder MG Ramachandran at his memorial on Marina on the occasion of his 28th death anniversary.
At 10.45 a.m the AIADMK chief arrived at MGR memorial and paid floral tributes to the late leader. Later, AIADMK functionaries including State Ministers took 14 pledges, most of them hailing the achievements of the government headed by Jayalalithaa. They also vowed to work a landslide victory of the party in the ensuing Assembly elections.\
Finance and PWD Minister O Panneerselvam read out the pledges and others repeated them. After taking the pledges, the cadre observed silence as a mark of respect for the late leader.
