Even the worst of enemies of MGR later Mr. Mukaa once gave the second stanza to a song called NAAN ALAVODDU RASIPAVAN.

Such was MGR's VALLAL GUNAM . It came spontaneously from Mr. Mukaa and you can understand now why EVERYONE LIKES MGR :D

This movie was released by Mekala pictures belonging to late Murasoli Maran for whom MGR acted FREE as part of the election funding exercise.

This movie also had another outstanding peppy song THANGA PADHAKATHIN MELE .

What Swathy says is a true becaz MGR used a bit of glamour for his movies in the early 70s .
Idayakani , Pallandu vazga, Nalai namadhe were some examples for that

May be in tune with the times :cry2:

How was your experience with M G Ramachandran when you sang for his film 'Urimai Kural'?

A :
One day, our late chief minister M G Ramachandran called me over and asked me to sing the song 'Vizhiye Kadhai Ezhudhu'. I was elated and thrilled. My happiness doubled when the song became a hit.

MGR is a mahaan. I came to know about him at a later stage. He not only gave importance to music but more to the art itself. His character was such that he turned even his foes into friends.

For example, at a time when he had difference of opinion with Kannadasan politically, he was not satisfied with the lyrics for a particular song. Finally, he himself suggested that Kannadasan be called to write the lyrics. Others around him were hesitant but MGR was firm. He told them that Kannadasan had no equal and asked them to approach him for the lyrics. Kannadasan also obliged and the song was 'Odum Megangale' for the film 'Aayirathil Oruvan'. Enmity vanished... and art gained importance

Jesudas fondly recollects thus his association with MGR

I think in King's role, there is noone to beat MGR ! the royal personality fits him precisely as he had broad shoulders, well built personality and with that ear rings , he looks like a real Emperor !

I believe there is a story behind this song also !

Kavignar Kannadasan originally wrote Nan andri yaar varuvar but it seems MGR was not happy with this and asked him to write another song and thats how Kan moodum was made !

Later Kavignar used Naan andri yaar varuvar in another movie

Beautiful picturisation in a garden . Both MGR and JJ looking absolutely handsome / beautiful.

IMO, the 2 form the best pair in screen and their chemistry was wonderful to watch !

TMS singing in a mild tone for Makkal thilagam is no surprise as I believe he had different voices for each actor !

Very peppy fast paced compo . Accordion and flute are a real treat to ears.

How did you get interested in films?

Like any other child, I was also fascinated by films. I watched MGR's films as a child. I was fascinated by his films, the scripts, and the portrayal of MGR as a hero. He was the ideal man in all his films. MGR films became my reference point when I started making films.

Like the characters he portrayed, the protagonists in my films take a strong stand on issues they believe in. But the way I treated the issues and created the characters are different from MGR films.
