thanks raj, swarooop for awesome songs. pyaar ki jeet (1948) had also waheedha in play (with suraiya). I dont get to see or read any synopsis for this story :( :ashamed: can anyone brief the story outline? what role did waheedha get to play when suraiya was leading the industry?
Herez a cheerful version of very meaningful song
zindagi pyaar ka geeth hai, isse har dhil ko gaana padega
zindagi gum ka saagar bhi hai, hanske uspaar jaana padega
..
hai agar dhoor manzil tho kya, raasta bhi hain mushkil tho kya
raat taaron bhari na mile to dil ka deepak jalana padega.
...
zindagi ek peheli bhi hai sukh dukh ki saheli bhi hai
easier to read as poetry... :)

herez the pathos version of a meaningful song
zindagi ek ahsaas hai
toote dil ki koi aas hai
zindagi ek banvas hai
zindagi bewafaa hai toh kya
apne roote hein ham se toh kya
haath me haath naa ho toh kya
saath phir bhi nibhana padega

Asha bhonsle in Dundh (1973)... lyrics :Sahir Ludyanvi Music : Ravi
mmm.. Zeenat Aman looks very pretty in saree !!
uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan
mere dil ka andhera huaa aur ghaneraa
kuchh samajh na paaun kyaa hona hai mera
khadi do raahe par ye poochhoon ghabraa kar
jaaun kahaan mainy jaaun kahaan
jo saans bhi aaye tan cheer ke jaaye
is haal mein koyi kis tarah nibhaaye
na marna raas aaya na jeena man bhaaya
jaaun kahaan mainy jaaun kahaan
rut gham ki tale na koi aas fale naa
taqdeer ke aaga meri ek chale na
bahut kin tadbeeren na tootin zanjeeren
jaaun kahaan mainy jaaun kahaan

Here an ever haunting melody of Rafi and Lata from Taj Mahal
( Seems that they never gave importance to the appearance of the names in Title. Bina Roy came before Pradeep kumar and Mohd.Rafi is the last in the list - of course with a "&" symbol :p )
http://youtu.be/cUTS57FNzeM
I agree. By 60s already Rafi is the top singer of all of them, still didn't feel good that his name appeared last, like an additional singer.
Looks like there was a tough competition between Madan Mohan ji and Roshan ji in who was best using Talat ji in 50s. The winner is always we listeners. Roshan ji magic again. Two beautiful compostions from the film Raagrang (1952). One a solo by Talat and another a duet with Lata. Compositions like this will never be made.
Aur Hai Dil Ki Lagi. The vibrant piano and wind instrument starts in a brisky fashion leading to a swinging violins followed by breezy sarangi. Talat ji starts the song with his bright voice, yet you can hear the pain in his voice. One of my all time favorite, not just Talat's and Roshan's. The composition takes a wavy structure and passes through us gently and takes us completely. The violins, sarangi and sitar interludes adds more honey towards the composition. Excellent lyrics by Kaif Irfani. I am completely floored by this composition, will take with me for ever. Roshan ji and Talati ji.:notworthy:

Dil-E-Beqraar Soja. A sober lullaby by Talat and Lata, just when you need a good night sleep after a busy big day. We become a kid hearing this beauty. We get some unknown happiness which words fail to describe. We can go into perfect dreams beyond this planet.

A dance-song and a dance by Padmini from Pardesi (1957)
http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/padmini
The good versions seems to disappear often but now the whole film is uploaded by 'mosfilm' possibly one of the owners. The dances are about ten minutes and thirty minutes into the second part of the film. I love the first dance since it does not seem to need any specialized knowledge of Indian dances.

:ty: everybody
I am puzzled. There are two songs from 1949 one ion Hindi film Patanga
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v5lcWFIgwQ
and the second from Tamil film Vazhkai (from 11:35 in the following video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oY8BhsDOvU
Both sound similar to me. It seems that Sudarshanam copied a few Hindi tunes and Ramachandra's ealier tune influenced one of the tunes in Vazhkai but the above two films are from the same year.
wow! Lataji with composer C.Ramachandra! :)
who can resist!

Ten days and no songs!
Looks like the energetic younger generation does not want to spend much energy here! :) I will take a short break from my long break!
In one of our music parties I sang a composition in Bageshri from Narayana Theertha's Krishna Leela Tharangini - Govindhamiha gopikaanandha kandham....
One of my north Indian friends, a linguist and musicologist, identified the raga as Bageshri. Later we discussed about some ragas. He said " jaag dard e ishq jaag" from Anarkali was the best example of Bageshri.
Here is that song from Anarkali(1953)

If you like to hear "Govindamiha...", here is Sankaran Namboodiri:

Though Sadhana Bose sang in some films, according to some the singer might have been Suprabha Ghosh/Sarkar.
I don't know where else to post this!
Mohd Rafi never apologised to Lataji!

I happened to watch a few minutes of a TV show about M.S.Viswanathan where he mentioned using Naushad's tune and sang a line from the Hindi song
