To judge the mettle of a singer (using film music), nothing better than IR songs. End of story!

I can't remember (maybe i've missed some) a contestant successfully taking on a challenging Raaja song. Also, For ARR's case, Vijay not being able to match Rahman in "Theeyil vizhundha thena" (here the complexity/difficulty is more because of pitch and feel IMO rather than the tune itself) - the example here is for 'not being able to do full justice.
"Andha vids, oru paanai sothula sila parukkaigal... " - Can anybody from ASS match any of those singers or songs in those Asianet videos?

Even Barathirajah did well with some IR numbers. Most of Prasanna's IR songs were done quite well - without much to complain.Quote:

And I rest my case :)
Oru statement upfront. Leaving aside all competitions etc and if you basically disagree with IR songs being the tougher of the lot (kootti kazhichu etc), then i'll leave you be with your opinion (similar to what Plum and I expressed in the other thread w.r.t BGM) :)Quote:

Coming to ASS, etc, the difficult to sing songs in terms of tune (not feel or pitch, which is a different issue) from Rahman were that rhythm song which Ranjani sang well and ...i don't remember
If you leave out pitch and feel, what is left - complexity in tune, gamakams, brigas.... andha vidhathula, universal truth-a!Quote:

I have responded to this in TFM Last song thread. adhavadhu, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting scored more centuries than any other. So, if someone says "Scoring 30 centuries or thereabouts is very difficult", you will reply "Not at all. Sachin and Ponting have scored many centuries. They have talent. Look at Sadagopan Ramesh. He does not have talent. It is talent that matters and nothing else. Scoring 30 centuries is difficult nu Sachin fans dhaan solluvaanga". Enna logic idhu? :huh:Quote:

nanRi vaNakkam :)
Ajish - Anthi mazhai - good
Ranjini - un pArvaiyil - good
Renu - vaanvillE - very good
Ravi - veLLai puRA onRu - Really good - Mano said originalukku equal'a paadineenga 8-)
Vijay - nee oru kaadhal sangeetham - Not bad at all. His improvisations in two places - kaadhal kaadhal (repeat) and vaai mozhi sonnAl - were beautiful. Unni requested to sing it again.
Ajish again - iLangKathu veesuthE - Superb - Charanam ending onnu pOthum - very well done.
Ajish was consitstent in this round I think ( I have not seen yesterday's performance though). His choice of songs were good too. Hope he scores the highest.
Renu, Ravi and Ajish are into the finals - Ranjini and Vijay got eliminated. Next week wild card round - Prasannava pAkkalAmA ?
Atrocious............ :hammer:
Never thought that Ranjani would be eliminated.... bulls**t..................
It was a big shock to me....
Pathetic judgement...
Unni :hammer: Ajesh'ku 84 points roommmmmbbbbbbaaa ooooover.... :hammer: Ranjani'ku 78??? Naansenssss..... it should be the other way round....
Ranjani was in fine form in this episode.... Ajesh was good...
Vijay tv - naannnnsennsssss
But Ranjani;s performance was way better than ajesh's.Quote:

Vijay tried poo poothadhu (MX) and poongAtru pudhidhaanadhu ( ). He was plain pathetic. They were first round performances, not semi-final :banghead: Ajesh's been the best performer this round (until yes'day)
enakkennavO Ajish was good. And he chose difficult numbers and did well. What did he sing yesterday?Quote:
