Beckham,
V V was a typical Middle class mentality oriented character...
Are we not seeing such a character in our day to day life :
1. Working sincerely in office...Total commitment to the job
2. Preaching and following basic discipline and moral values
3. Be very strict with staff down the linfe
4. Be very polite and respectful to Boss
5. If your Boss appreciates your work.. you get so thrilled and you feel contended totally... forgetting what you deserve on increment...
6. Bringing the files back home and completing the task so that the Boss will appreciate.....
7. Middle class gauravam and ego....
All the above were shown exceptionally by Shivaji in that movie.....
Inbetween.... expressing his love to his beloved wife.....
Believe me.... the dialogue what Shivaji said on his retirement... which you had mentioned... one of my uncles precisely uttered that on his retirment... and he was a State Govt employee.....
Very touchy dialogues...in that movies.....
But the end showing Shivaji as dead was unnecessary... probably it was a phobia those days.... that Shivaji had to be portrayed as dead in the final scene so that it will capture the minds of audience...
They did it for SHivaji in Pachai vilakku, Babu.... and in lots of movies...
