puthuppettai music(yuvan)may get an award nxt yr i suppose, extraordinary excellence, even an inch gr8er than h'wood!
i wanthat film 2 bag many awards(as much as 15 in all categories except best editing, screenplay, direction, film)
Pudupettai music was great applause to YSR no prob, but I think for a film based on a rowdy's life the orchestra etc was too much, really in some songs the background themes does not suit the scenes at all (eventhough the music was good)
Yeah, I also agree that Jo's acting was good but compared to Soundarya's and shobana (the best of the 3) .....
Raj Kiran has done an excellent job in thavamai thavamiruthu (I don't him like him at all, but that role suited him  )
Really liked YSR music in Kalvanin Kadali (I did not see the film, I saw Ananda Vikatan's review I don't even want to) but the songs were really good.
YSR merits an award sure
any more arguments?
2005 National Award for Best Actor – Amitabh Bachchan !
- 18.08.2006
Every year the Central Government confers special honours at the national level for the best actor, best director, best actress, best film and best cinema technicians. Last year's list of awardees has been finalized by the Selection Committed headed by Saroja Devi. But the list has not been officially released.

Recently the Mumbai High Court expressed opinion that the uncensored films also should be taken for consideration. But only the censored films were considered for the list for 2005 awardees. Owing to this confusion, the announcement of the awardees is getting delayed. The Central Government has decided to appeal to the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Mumbai High Court.
That apart, the awardees list is a great disappointment for the Tamil film industry, particularly to Cheran. He believed and was telling everyone that Rajkiran would get the award for the best actor for his performance in 'Thavamai Thavamirundu.' Alas! The best actor award was given to Amitabh Bachchan, for his stellar performance in the Hindi film 'Black'.
Let us forgive the best actor award but what about the best actor special award? That again has been given to the Hindi actor Anupam Kher. Naseeruddin Shah has been given the best supporting actor for his performance in 'Iqbal.'
Kamal has won national award for best actor for 3 times. This time it is the turn of Sarika. She has been chosen the best actress for her performance in 'Perzania'
The Bengali film 'Kaalpurush' starring Mithun Chakravarty, Rahul Bose and Samira Reddy has won the best film award.
It will be known only after the release of the full list if some sundry awards have come the way of Tamil film industry.

This year the south Filmfare awards are to be announced on stage like the Oscars. The function will take place in Chennai’s Nehru stadium on September 9.
It is the Lead Actor (Female) category that has created a lot of buzz. Those in the race are Asin (‘Ghajini’, ‘Majaa’) , Jyothika (‘Chandramukhi’), Sada (‘Anniyan’) and Laila (‘Kanda Nal Muthal’). Who will walk away with the best actress trophy?
Under normal circumstances it should be a cakewalk for Kalpana of Ghajini a neatly well-etched out character. But one can’t rule out Jyothika’s much talked about act as a possessed woman in Chandramukhi!
Added to that, Jo has a lot of goodwill and support from her fans who knows that it will be her last chance to win another award (She has two Filmfare awards in her showcase) and another one would be an appropriate wedding gift for her!
In the leading actor (Male) category are Vikram (‘Anniyan’), Vijay (‘Sivakasi’), Suriya (‘Ghajini’), Cheran (‘Thavamai Thavamirunthai’) and Jeeva (‘Raam’). Vikram is the hot favourite to walk away with the award!
