The Week in 1996 featured a story on Paambu Omana in some Keralite district. apparently she has been bitten by some 50+ snakes all her life. Wherever she goes, she gets followed by snakes and bitten in the end(sic) - am not making this up.
Am sure the snake-conscious blah blah or the news-savvy Cinefan will illuminate us with more info on Paambu Omana :D

Recently the 'Nammal Thammil' show on asianet highlighted such cases.Some participants claimed they were repeatedly[some times dozens of times] bitten by snakes.I can't offer any explanation for this as I feel they are not being truthful.Sometimes in snake infected areas you see people being bitten many times[though rare]. My mother was bitten three times-once by a cobra and twice by krait :cry: .
If some one says that snakes are targetting him or her and he is bitten 60 or 70 times,well,I am not going to believe it. 8)
I know one snake lover who was bitten 26 times by poisonous snakes.The famous snake charmer,'pambu Velayudhan',died from a snake bite. :(
There was a lady in the above TV Show (Nammal Thammil in Asianet) who claimed that she had many snake bites and fearing them ..she went to her daughter who lived in Bangalore.. and a snake (where she says... the daughter or her neighbors have never seen a snake before) came from the nearby wall just to bite this lady... how sad (funny)... :huh:
Well guys enough of snakes,right?
Here comes an incident which happened just last year in an office in Bangalore.I heard about it from a gentleman who was present through out the funny game.Now though I do not want to offend any particular community,some facts will be revealed.
There is a Tamil girl of 13 or 14 who had some psychological problems[her name ends with 'Sundari',but I can't remember what Sundari she was].Her main symptoms were fear of almost everything,a little bit of sleep walking etc.Being illiterate and poor
the parents were forced to accept the 'findings' of local pastor who invented enough proof for demon possession.
So it happened that an embarrassed little girl found her way into this God's own office to get rid of the demon. :rotfl: Three pastors along with two 'prayerwarriors'started praying,shouting and chanting things in English which the girl couldn't understand and she really got scared.At this time she called out 'Appa',which made the unfortunate girls mother conclude that the spirit of her dead father in law was the culprit.
This decided, the pastors started to chase out the spirit.The spirit was asked to go out of the girl.Since the room was on the third floorand she was covered on all side by the other people in the room,the girl asked how to 'go out'.To this one pastor shouted 'Get out through the window'.The girl was again confused at this response.Finally after one hour,the gentle men gave up and advised the mother to take her to a psychiatrist.
Now you may wonder why I came out with this.But I will come out soon with a case which I witnessed some years back where another girl acted in an abnormal way,but was cured in a curious way. :wink:
