Not sure about other centers.. I was disappointed with my premier show.. i was expecting huge crowd.. but turned out only 25 people in total.. it was 10:30 PM show Thursday so that could be the reason.. but still Thalaivar padam first day koottam illama paarthadhu chinna varutham dhaan :(
Movie is really good . Thalaivar, KSR and ARR made the magic.
in andhra lot of peoples disappointed for the movie, indha songs ellam avoid panirukalam, frustratinga iruku.2 nd half supera iruku..but not upto the mark of hollywood
Even if it is animation only superstar can create waves in the industry... going to see tonight.
KSR, ARR & SSR saved this cartoon movie ...worth a watch once if u go with less expectations. ..Sarath , Nagesh , Aathi and third SSR characters are simply wasted not catchy . If you compare the graphics work of telugu movie Magadheera , no where this one.... In my view no one will try this motion capture in tamil further ....Waiting for lingaa to enjoy SSR MAGIC ...:fatigue:

Seen the film @ URVASHI Digital 4k Bangalore 2.30 Show.
Film was nice, even though the character was motion captured,Apart from Rajni .......Nasar,nagesh and Shobana was 50 percent to 60 percent looks like same (Ellarukkum agala kaal.Nadukkum pothu legs ovel shape la pooguthu).....BGM was good, screenplay also good (But some people says if it comes as real cinema it would be a great BB, that nd all too much,This story suits well for motion capture but not for cinema).
I feel irritated when seeing the film, coz even its a 3d movie its not brighter, screen looks very dull.Yen tu theriyala.i thought ithuku 2d la yee pathuirukkalamtu...but people said urvashi digital was good theater for 3D thats y i booked it.
Apart from that Rajni style,War sequence and some dialogue was good.Rajni Intro like Muthu ,ithula oru 5 KM deelava thaanduvaaru.
But over all 1 time watchable but surely better than Average (Eppadiyo Rajni,ARR and Screen play boar adikkama move pannitanga but Soundarya dont fly high that u ve succeeded people well know abt you and also u already told 50 to 100 freshers worked in this project due to their hard work the film came at this level its not coz of u alone).
I like to watch another time in gopalan mall r in other multiplex to see whether it has any difference clarity r not.
Almost all box office reports say Tamil version is doing excellent business in TN and US. Average in other states. Telugu, Hindi versions are very poor. Nagarjuna's Manam and Tiger Shroff's Heropanti have overtaken Kochchadaiyaan.
Not a single non Rajni fan has given a good review so far. We will have to wait till Monday to know the exact verdict for the film.

Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan got released today across the globe. Initial reports from Tamil Nadu were positive but the film is getting negative talk in Andhra Pradesh and other states. Surprisingly, shows were cancelled in Mumbai due to the lack of minimum audience. Mumbai has got lot of Tamil population and their films are well received in the city. In Andhra Pradesh, morning shows occupancy was reported as less than 40 percent. This is the first time that Rajinikanth's movie got such a poor response in almost 2 decades. Trade analysts are predicting that Vikrama Simha might end up as a flop at the Tollywood box-office. Rajinikanth is a brand in India and his poster itself is enough to buy the ticket. But, the experimental movie made by his daughter Soundarya has not only got poor response but also the financiers and distributors are worried as they understood that their money is lost. KS Ravi Kumar has provided the story and AR Rahman is the music director for the film. Soundarya Rajinikanth has directed the film and Eros International has produced Kochadaiiyaan (Vikrama Simha)

BO Report:
Tamil : FLOP
Other Language: washout.
Anyway watched the movie yesterday.....Movie could have worked, had it been a regular movie....Animation, color tone & all details lacked big time.
Way too many songs for an animation movie. Next few weeks are going to be very bitter for Rajini to swallow....Hope he has the strength to come out strong!!
Start music:pink:
Being an animation junkie, I hope to check out Koch when the ticket prices drastically reduce (I refuse to pay 20 USD+ for a poorly received 3D version.)
Anyways, had a friend (diehard Rajini fan), who went with his family for the 3D show. Occupancy was very low(80 ppl/300-400 seater) and most people dozed off either in the middle or last fight sequences. Like most people, he was severely disappointed with the outcome and people were mocking at the way it was presented. Too cartoonish and felt too doll-like. This was the public talk here (and the collections show it's way behind the Akkineni family saga, "Manam." Yes, Andhra movies make more money than Tamil, but the rave reviews this one got over Koch showed in occupancy.)
I think instead of doing a poor man's "Tintin", Soundarya could've have attempted "Kochadaiyaan" in the same manner Rajamouli did "Magadheera's" flashback sequence. You have the biggest financier from Hindi putting 125C down for a Rajinikanth starrer and you have KSR penning the story and dialogues. If Rajini himself was fit and rearing to go for Rana, then shoot it live like you've planned.
Movie is watchable. They could have reduced the number of songs and increased the storytelling time. Watching "Super Star" title card in 3D alone is enough for my ticket's worth.
Watched this movie on Saturday evening at Golden Village cinemas in Singapore. Cinema was about 70-80% full. Yes, as we've heard countless times, the animation is lacking. There is something about the eyes that makes the characters feel souless and lifeless. Anyway, closeup shots are commendable.
*SPOILERS* The movie itself had a regular revenge storyline. SSR was fantastic as both Rana and Kochadaiiyaan though my personal favourite is the latter. Nagesh or more precisely whoever played him was splendid and the other actors sufficient. Special mention for dialogues (Especially SSR dialogues) and BGM. A nag I had with the film were the unrealistic action sequences, especially flying horses. I understand its a SSR movie and we got to suspend disbelief but the movie from early on already had been underfire and labelled as a kids movie. Such sequences just cement that sentiment. An example would be SSR's intro, where he jumps with 2 horses and the carriage across a valley hundreds of meters apart.
The ending left is wide open for a sequel. If KSR is brought back on along with ARR and a much larger budget, it could word. However, seeing the BO reports thus far, it seems unlikely a sequel will be made.
The movie is pretty bad. Lackluster animation, poor voice lip syncing, the lack of colorful characters and atmosphere. There are redeeming qualities though. Even though the animation wasn't great there were some parts that really looked good. So when it suddenly becomes good for a short time and then switch back to being poor you could really see the difference. The costumes did look pretty good. The animation on it along with the vibrant and colorful look was pretty impressive. I don't understand why they couldn't have done the same for the background environment. It just looked so empty and dull. Only during the song sequences did it change to more colorful and appealing to the eyes. I know the budget was limited but I feel like they could have done lot better than this with 125 crore.
Even though the graphics didn't impress much but the facial motion capture was pretty good up to a certain point. It wasn't really that grand but it did what it was supposed to do. However it was only really evident in certain people. Not sure what was going on there. It didn't really feel like a motion caption at work on Rajini but it was evident on Nasar.
Fine let's forget about the technical aspect of it; the story and the screenplay was a really big let down. It was not engaging at all. I could guess every scene before it happened. Every scene has been done before in other masala movies but in different settings. No real character development or character arcs. Some characters just come and go. What's the point of Sarath's character and the whole side plot with him. That went nowhere. We don't even see him after that little scene. Although I gotta say, that was a one badass princess but unfortunately she did nothing else after that first fight. she became just a little plot convenience afterward.
I am sorry for being so negative but I really wanted this movie to be good. That's what frustrates me. I hope they don't give up on these type of movies after this though. They just need to find a way to improve on this and maybe focus on the characters and story as much as they focus on the technical parts of it.
It has done well in Singapore so far. NOV, how is the response in Malaysia?
As an animation movie, the story has to be simple. So I don't see any issues with Story and screenplay. In fact, they are the plus points for the movie.
Animation quality and too many songs are the only negative.
Kochadaiiyaan 1st day box office collection is Rs.15-20 Crore
Kochadaiiyaan 2nd day box office collection is Rs.17 crores (approx)
Kochadaiiyaan 3rd day box office collection is Rs.20 Crores (approx)
Kochadaiyaan 4th day box office collection is Rs.12 Crores (approx)
Padam, good attempt madam. Soundarji's did a commendable job give the constraints. For India where they produce close to some 1500 movies every year. Animation/ Motion Capture etc etc.. won't work at the boxoffice unless its done by Hollywood Studio with a better budget and quality. First day First show here, it was about 60 human beings including me, capacity was about 350.
+ Thalivar
+ Story , Screen play
+ AR Raguman BGM (I was shaking my head in disbelief simbly super)
+ I actually liked 3 songs very well done.
- Amateurish Direction in most places
- Animation Quality
- Scary Deepika
As a die hard Thaliavar fan .. I have no problem in sitting through 2 hrs again. But as an animation lover, I should say this movie failed at multiple levels qnd end product doesn't satisfy neither adults nor kids. If there is a sequel, Soundarji should give direction to KSR or some other notable director. Just a suggestion.
Is Kochadaiyaan censored U-certificate? There are some gory scenes there. At the theater I was in there were little kids that got really frightened by it
rajini ksravikumar engaging screenplay and arrahmans background score make it watchable
if it has been live action endhiran records will be beaten for sure.period drama story was was so good to miss
watched it at TGV salak selatan in 2D version since no tickets available until tuesday at LFS PJ STATE 3D version ... only superstar can pull crowd to an animated movie.. he is mass of mass ... movie is superb , bgm rocking to the core , screenplay and story awesome.. watching a period film with thalaivar act is really different ... a real rajini fans and neutral fans will like the movie... not bother about some vaitherichel and athimethavi dudes . dot!

Thamiz,
I understand you are a hardcore fan of Rajni. But why do you sound like an alter ego of Soundarya Rajnikanth? People in my circle who managed to watch the movie didn't have anything good to say about it. And normally I don't rely on fans' reviews for any star, especially on the first 3 days. So I thought I will wait till Monday so that more reviews from neutrals/family audience come in.
P.S: I didn't read Taran Adarsh and Saraswathi's reviews. Will check out.
