Let me share this moment of acute grief..Music Director Raveendran master expired today at Chennai.. He was suffering from throat cancer..

It's very sad that Raveendran master is no more.

As a tribute let me share his composition as this week's mal pick

This song is for sukumar and Raveendran wanted PS to sing this. He came to her house and took her for recording .

she praised him for his music and the respect he had for singers.

Just listened to 'hrudaya geethamaai'. Very different composition. PS slows down initially, and suddenly catches up. (Maybe the picturisation has something to do with it..?) Anyhow musically rich.

yes .. she herself said that .. she didnt want to sing that day because of bad throat but Raveendran had waited for long time so she didnt want to say no. that's why the initial slow down but the diction is perfect as ever.

I remember another song by PS in 'Gaanam'. BMK teaches KJY & PS one carnatic krithi 'adhri suthaa vara'. This song has PS singing swaras - something I haven't seen her do often. Are there more?

BTW, this swati thirunal kriti was rarely sung before in concerts. Apparently this film song revived and it is popularly sung now!
