Good folkish song Neel. Thanks.
KC and TKS KalaivANan (also Deepan Chakravarthi) had good voice and singing talent. But somehow drowned in the SPB ocean.
One of the super hit song of PS+IR also featured Nisha. It was none other than Thenna marathula thedral adikkudhu nandha van kiLiyE..
Sakthiprabha, thanks.
SN23, you are welcome.
RC, When I read your post about Nisha the reality and the intensity of the news did not hit me. I found a link to Nisha's story in Kumudam. Shocking is an understatement. I don't want to post the link here because it is not for the faint-hearted.
Pick #591
Song: nIyA ennai pArththavan
Film: Oru Malarin Payanam
Music: Chandrabose
Singer: P.Susheela
Lyrics: ?
Year: 1985
Two other songs from "Oru Malarin Payanam" were already featured in this thread by Ramki. Third song from the same film can only mean that this album is a winner for Chandrabose. Today's pick is a nice old-fashioned song, even for 1985. It sounds very much like the 60s and 70s songs of PS. This song wraps up our two-week special of Padmabhushan P.Susheela songs.

I want to share my joy with you, Neel!
Classical prowess in style, the composer shows class in layam.
Have you listened to that song?

baroque, you are welcome. Yes, I have heard "paRakkum pandhu", a million times. :) Good song.
Pick #592
Song: iLamanathinil ezum kanavinil
Film: Manjal Nila
Music: Ilaiyaraja
Singers: K.J.Yesudas, B.S.Sasirekha
Lyrics: ?
Year: 1982
Beautiful light-classical by Ilaiyaraja. KJY and BSS do a great job. "Manjal Nila" was a heavily advertised film starring Suresh, the heartthrob of the teenagers of the time. The female lead was either Manochitra or Kalpana, not sure. The film did not fare so well inspite of some good songs.
Thanks to Priya for sending this song.

appadiyaa, pandhu parakkum.... my favorite song too. I saw the visual in good DVD this weekend!
Last time when I saw was in a very bad VHS.
Now I am all into idhu varai neenga..., TMS is very ALLURING, with this song Shri.MSV yegaiyo poyettaaru with class & nalinam! :D
ilamanadhil... with a touch of maayamalavagowlai rag in prelude bgm(andha purathil oru magarani... pallavi), pallavi onwards composition mixing with raga Shanmugapriya ambience to my ears( heavy influence of kai kuttai kaadhal kadidham.... )
Poonthendral kaatre vaa..... is a evergreen composition from the same movie.
