Naalaya Theerpu released on 4th December 1992. And its 21 years in Tamil cinema for Vijay. I still remember a tamil magazine which ridiculed his looks and the same magazine was waiting for his interviews after a decade. He might not have the fair skin or well toned body or extra ordinary acting skills but still remains the darling of masses. Female fan following for actors is as consistent as gold prices in India. But this man has considerable amount of female fans to boast of. And you pick any kid in the public and ask who is his/her favourite actor in Tamil. You will understand why he is one of the most bankable actors in the industry. His success can be attributed to hard work, discipline backed up by good planning. He knows his limitations, contains himself within the limits and plays to the galleries. Same strategy earlier adopted by MGR and Rajni. With many promising projects in the pipeline, his stardom is only going to shoot up and I wish him good health and all success. :)

ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் தயாரிப்பில், எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யாவின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான குஷி படத்தின் மூலம் விஜய்யின் இன்னொரு பரிமாணம் வெளிப்பட்டது. காதலர்களுக்குள் ஏற்படும் ஈகோவை அற்புதமாக பிரதிபலித்திருந்தார் விஜய். சில படங்கள் சரியாக போகாதிருந்த நிலையில் விஜய்க்கு புது ரத்தம் பாய்ச்சியது குஷி.

அடுத்து வந்த சில படங்கள் விஜய்க்கு சரியாகப் போகாத நிலையில், பிரபுதேவாவின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான தெலுங்கு ரீமேக்கான போக்கிரி அசுரத்தனமான வெற்றியைப் பெற்று விஜய்யின் பின்னடைவைப் போக்கி முன்னுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்தது. போக்கிரியாக ரவுடிகளை பொளந்துகட்டும் விஜய், கடைசியில் போலீஸ் அதிகாரி என தெரியவரும் அந்த ட்விஸ்ட் ரசிகர்களுக்கு எதிர்பாராத போனஸ். குறிப்பாக, இந்தப் படத்தில் விஜய்யின் டயலாக் டெலிவரியும், பாடி லாங்குவேஜ்ஜும் ரசிகர்களுக்கு புதிய அனுபவத்தைக் கொடுத்தது. நான் ஒரு தடவை முடிவு பண்ணிட்டேன்னா என் பேச்சை நானே கேட்கமாட்டேன் என்று விஜய் பேசும் வசனத்தை படம் பார்த்துவிட்டு வந்த ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்களுக்கு தேவையான இடங்களில் எல்லாம் பேச ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.

Vijay is affectionately addressed as Ilayathalapathyby his fans. After Superstar Rajinikanth, Vijay seems to grow younger by the day -he is the only star who has fans from the age of six to 60 years. The actor, who started his career as a child artist, debuted as hero in the 1992 flick, Naalaya Theerppu, at the age of 18 on December 4. He has come a long way since. His journey to superstardom has not been a bed of roses. But the actor's sheer hard work and perseverance, combined with a loyal fan base, which has been with him through thick and thin, has made him one of the top ranking stars of Kollywood.
Unlike his contemporaries,who started out playing chocolate boy characters, Vijay daringly began his career as an action hero in Naalaya Theerppu where he played a college student and proved his mettle. Box Office India described it as `the biggest blockbuster of the modern era'. Critics addressed Vijay as the new-born actor who grossed over `1 billion in the Tamil film industry .
What followed in the early 1990s were a few romantic comedies, which established his flair for it and his dancing abilities. In 1996, Poove Unakkaga directed by Vikraman, turned out to be a huge hit and Vijay became a recognisable star, completing 27 films in various genres between 1996 and 2003. EXPANDING HORIZONS Vijay is hugely popular in the neighbouring state of Kerala. And each time he visits Kerala, it makes headlines. Vijay has revealed that he loves Malayalam movies for their realistic approach and is a great fan of Mammootty's and Mohanlal's. Fans in Kerala have also erected a robotic statue of the actor there. A lifelike statue, it moves electronically to the beats of Vijay's songs. The star is equally well-liked in Karnataka.
A TRAINED SINGER Vijay is a trained singer and has sung for composers like Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan, Vidyasagar, Deva, Devi Sri Prasad and recently for Imman for Jilla. He sang most of his songs in the films he acted in and a few for fellow actors. After a gap he sang for Thuppakki and Thalaivaa and his number, Google Google and Vaangana became chartbusters. 'ஃபோர்ப்ஸ் இந்தியா' இதழ் வெளியிட்டுள்ள இந்தியாவின் பிரபலங்கள் பட்டியலில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள தமிழ் நடிகர்களில், கமல் ஹாசன், விஜய்யை விட சூர்யா முன்னிலை முன்னிலை வகிக்கிறார். இவர்கள் மூவரையும் விட முன்னிலை வகித்திருக்கிறார், இசையமைப்பாளர் ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான்.
சினிமா, விளையாட்டு உள்ளிட்ட துறைகளைச் சேர்ந்த டாப் 100 இந்தியப் பிரபலங்கள் பட்டியலை, ஃபோர்ப்ஸ் இந்தியா வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
இதில், இசையமைப்பாளர் ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் 16-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளார். ஓராண்டு காலத்தில் ரூ.50.57 கோடி ஈட்டியுள்ள இவர், வருவாய் தரவரிசையில் 16-வது இடத்திலும், மக்கள் மத்தியில் நிலவும் புகழ்ப் பட்டியலில் 24-வது இடத்திலும் உள்ளார்.
இப்பட்டியலில் 33-வது இடத்திலுள்ள நடிகர் சூர்யா, வருவாய்ப் பட்டியலில் 48.5 கோடி ரூபாயுடன் 17-வது இடத்திலும், புகழ்ப் பட்டியலில் 92-வது இடத்திலும் இருக்கிறார்.
நடிகர் கமல் ஹாசன் 47-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளார். இவர் ரூ.22.67 கோடியுடன் வருவாய் பட்டியலில் 29-வது இடத்திலும், புகழ்ப் பட்டியலில் 55-வது இடத்திலும் இருக்கிறார்.
இவரைத் தொடர்ந்து, நடிகர் விஜய் 49-வது இடத்தில் இருக்கிறார். இவர், 32.5 கோடி ரூபாயுடன் வருவாய் பட்டியலில் 21-வது இடத்திலும், புகழ் பட்டியலில் 80-வது இடத்திலும் உள்ளார்.
ரூ.220.5 கோடி வருவாயுடன், நடிகர் ஷாரூக்கான் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ள இந்தப் பட்டியலில் நடிகர்கள் ரஜினிகாந்த், அஜீத் உள்ளிட்டோர் இடம்பெறவில்லை என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
