விஜய், சமந்தா நடிப்பில் ஏ.ஆர்.முருகதாஸ் இயக்கிய கத்தி படம் தீபாவளியன்று வெளியானது. படம் வெளியானது முதல் தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் கனமழை கொட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இருந்தாலும் தியேட்டர்களில் ரசிகர்கள் வந்து குவிந்த வண்ணம் உள்ளனர். தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் சுமார் 450 தியேட்டர்களுக்கு மேல் கத்தி திரையிடப்பட்டது. அத்தனை தியேட்டர்களிலும் கத்தி ஹவுஸ்புல் காட்சிகளாக ஓடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
படம் வெளியான புதன் கிழமையில் மட்டும் தமிழ்நாட்டு தியேட்டர்களில் மட்டும் 12.2 கோடி ரூபாயை வசூலித்திருக்கிறது. இது விஜய்யின் சாதனை வசூலாக இருந்த துப்பாக்கி வசூலையும் முறியடித்திருக்கிறது. கேரளாவில் 1.65 கோடியையும், கர்நாடகாவில் 1.55 கோடியையும் வசூலித்துள்ளது. வெளிநாடுகளில் 6 கோடியும் வசூலித்துள்ளது.
