Mayilirage. aaah thavil, mridangam and tabla :notworthy:
The last time I recall Rahman ji using carnatic instruments was in vtv for anbil avan which was my favourite track, even though others thought it was an underdog. Eagerly awaiting another carnatic fusion.
khalbali - rang de basanti
great imagination from thalaivar :D
I have been addicted to this song of late. This and the title credits BGMQuote:

I watched the movie with a friend from Tirunelveli. On listening to the opening credits BGM, esp the guitar piece during the hanging of Bhagat and others, he exclaimed 'Ennale idhu?'. Still those words ring in my ears..
listening to WOHE and couple's retreat - great change from thalaivar  - more stress on orchestration and no half-hanging stuff in couple's retreat :D

Stunning song.
I do not think the "hey hey" humming was by ARR. But definitely the "yep" ஏப்பம் sound was by ARR. I always get amused with ARR's yeppam when listening to this song....Quote:

He has opted for his voice as a prelude and interlude many times, instead of using an instrument e.g. Chinna Chinna Aasai - 2nd interlude (yelelo), Kannalanae (Gama Pamapa - alaap), Kappaleri Poyaachu - around 4.05 to 4.16 (lala part) and recently in Raavan (Prelude of Veera) and Marudaani (p.s. I don't know if this can be considered a interlude).Quote:
