Movie: Aandhi
Singer: Kishore Kumar
Situation: He and She living separately as she preferred to pursue her political career. She happens to come to his town to campaign for a by-election. They meet and they go in the late evening to their favourite haunting place ( a semi demolished fort )
She: Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi
there are no complaints in life without you
Tere bina zindagi bhi lekin, zindagi, to nahi, zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi
but then, without you there is no life as well
Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi
Kaash aisa ho tere qadmo se, chun ke manzil chale aur kahi door kahi - 2
if only i was destined to go along with you ( though the literal meaning will mean "touch your feet" ) wherever and whatever be the distance
Tum gar saath ho, manzilo ki kami to nahi
as long as you are with me, there is no dreath of destinations (meaning, she is ready to travel anywhere holding his hand)
Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi
Jee mein aata hai, tere daaman mein, sar jhuka ke ham rote rahe, rote rahe - 2
I want to place my face on your lap and keep crying, keep crying
Teri bhi aankho mein, aansuo ki nami to nahi
your eyes are also showing traces of tears
He: Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi,
shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi
Tere bina zindagi bhi lekin, zindagi, to nahi,
zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi
Tum jo keh do to aaj ki raat, chaand doobega nahi, raat ko rok lo -2
If you wish, the moon will not set today.. the night will stop (meaning, she can stay back with him and they can be like this for ever)
Raat ki baat hai, aur zindagi baaki to nahi
after this night there wont be any more life for me :(
Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi,
shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi
Tere bina zindagi bhi lekin, zindagi, to nahi,
zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi, zindagi nahi
Such a beautiful movie, such a beautiful song :) ... lovely words, music & voice... I like the bit where he sings
"Tum jo keh do to aaj ki raat, chaand doobega nahi, raat ko rok lo " - like a child asking the mother to stop the night :)
