Jaya TV prepares for a ‘complete makeover’
The market is abuzz with the news that you have acquired yet-to-be-released Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiyaan. What are the other movies you have acquired?
We have acquired about 15 movies in the recent past. Among them, 10 movies are still under production while 5 movies have been released in the recent past. I can’t reveal the names of the movies but we are in the process of acquiring more movies.
Movies are a good source for attracting eyeballs which in turn drives GRPs. Movies will also help us in driving the channel’s GRPs.
Can you please throw some light on the tie up with Aidem?
Aidem will now market our group’s channels outside Tamil Nadu. Before this, we had one representative each in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. And it was difficult to reach out to the clients with one person. Now with Aidem on board, we hope to reach out to more clients.
This is a strategic decision which will widen our market and help us to reach out to more and more clients.
We hear that Jaya TV is headed for a makeover. What are the changes planned for Jaya TV and other group channels?
The channel will go for complete makeover. Starting from second week of August, the flagship channel Jaya TV will don a new look. Except for some mega serials, we are phasing out most the shows by introducing fresh shows. We will be also introducing some big ticket game shows. There will be a game show that is unique and will stand out.
Once we have completed the revamping Jaya TV, we will start giving a makeover to other channels like Jaya Max, Jaya News and Jaya Movies.
As far Jaya News is concerned, we will have talk shows and more and more infotainment-oriented programmes.
Everything will change except for the logo of the channels.

அந்தப் படத்தில் கதாநாயகர்களாக நடித்த பிரபு - கார்த்திக் இருவரின் மகன்களையும் வைத்து இந்தப் படத்தை ரீமேக் செய்யப் போகிறார்கள் என்பதுதான் இதில் விசேஷம்.
அக்னி நட்சத்திரம் படத்தின் ரீமேக் உரிமையை பாலாஜி ரியல் மீடியாவின் ரமேஷ் பெற்றுள்ளார்.

அக்னி நட்சத்திரம் 1988-ம் ஆண்டு வெளியானது. இளையராஜாவின் இசையில் அத்தனைப் பாடல்களும் மெகாஹிட். குறிப்பாக நின்னுக்கோரி வர்ணமும் ராஜாதி ராஜனிந்த ராஜாவும் ஒலிக்காத இடமே இல்லை. இசையில் புது முயற்சியாக டெக்னோ இசையைக் கையாண்டிருந்தார் ராஜா.

Ajay Devgn’s mahurat to go live online!
In a first of sorts, the mahurat of Himmatwala starring Ajay Devgn that will take place on Wednesday at 1 pm in Ramoji Studios, Hyderabad will go live on YouTube.Confirming it, director Sajid Khan says, “Yes, this is a first ever in the history of Indian cinema when a mahurat will be covered live online. Since I make my films purely for the audience, I wanted them to be a part of it right from the very first shot, so we came up with this idea of livestreaming the mahurat on YouTube.”
The director reveals that he also plans to retain that very first shot, (which will be of Ajay) and the audience will see live online. “I am extremely superstitious so I will just take the mahurat shot even if there’s any technical flaw.” The mahurat will also be attended by producers Vashu Bhagnani and Siddharth Roy Kapur.

Cinema gets new Aishwarya
Unlike Bollywood, where big stars have no qualms about launching their daughters in a big way, the well known examples being Sonam Kapoor or Sonakshi Sinha, south Indian actors prefer to give their sons the launch pad treatment, being rather more protective of their daughters.
The only exception though is Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, whose daughter, Shruti, has made it big in tinselville.
Taking a cue from Kamal, our Action King Arjun is launching his 21-year-old daughter, Aishwarya, in a movie, titled Pattatthu Yaanai, opposite his protégé and actor, Vishal.
Apparently, Vishal started his career as an assistant director to Arjun, who directed Vedham and Ezhumalai.
A producer who spotted Vishal on the sets of one of Arjun’s films signed him on for his debut movie, Chellame. Meanwhile, Arjun’s wife, Niveditha, an actress, stopped acting post her wedding to the Mudhalvan star.
Sources say that Aishwarya was approached by several top filmmakers in the past, including Mani Ratnam, when she was in college in Chennai.
Finally, Vishal seems to be the lucky man. Pattatthu Yaanai is directed by Bhoopathy Pandian who had teamed with him for the hit film, Malai Kottai.
The film is produced by producer-turned-politician, Michael Rayappan, under his Global Info-tainment banner.

Gemini Ganesan's grandson turns actor
The heirs of the actors and actresses winning and losing depend on their talents and luck. Abhinay, grandson of the legendary star couple Gemini Ganesan-Savithri, has stepped into Kollywood as an actor.
He is playing the lead role in a film titled 'Vilambaram', which is being directed by a newcomer called Suriyanidhi.
Abhinay says, "Acting has always been my passion. I am donning the greasepaint with the blessings of elders in my family. Also, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan too have wished me." She is spontaneous, bubbly and always a bundle of positive energy. She may have had to wait for long for her debut film Poda Podi’s release,yet the dusky babe has proved her worth in her very first film. “I am extremely happy and content and couldn’t have asked for a better launch pad,” asserts Varalaxmi, daughter of ace actor/politician Sarath Kumar.
The lady who openly calls a spade a spade talks to DC about her career, her closeness to actor Vishal, her love for dancing and future plans. Varu, as she is fondly called by friends, starts off by saying that it has been worth the wait.
“Irrespective of whether Poda Podi is doing well or not, I have been getting accolades from all quarters for my performance. I had so much confidence in Vikki’s script. I lived the character of Nisha in PP. There are a lot of similarities between what I am and how Nisha was on screen. Vikki is my college mate and he knows me in and out. The role was tailor-made for me,” she says with an infectious smile.
Highly independent and assertive by nature, she says she does not rely on her dad Sarath’s reputation for opportunities. “I believe in my own potential. I pursue what my mind tells me. I am fond of dancing and I have learnt all forms of dance right from a young age. I studied masters in management and I was studious as well. At a time when I thought that I should plunge into acting, I did a course in Anupam Kher’s acting school.” She quickly adds, “Of course, my dad is very supportive and encouraging. He was very excited seeing my performance in PP. He liked the second half which had a lot of scope for my acting.”
Ask Varu about the rumor that she and Vishal are seeing each other, and pat come the response, “Our families know each other right from the day my dad used to work for Vishal’s father’s banner. We used to meet regularly during family get-togethers. Yes, I do agree Vishal is a close friend of mine. He has been a guiding factor in my career, but he is not the interfering type. There’s nothing more to our relationship,” she says and closes discussion on it softly but firmly.
Clearing the notion that it was Vishal who brought her on board in his film Madha Gaja Raja (MGR) she says, “It is not true! Vishal does not interfere in the selection of his heroines. Gemini Films which produces MGR are my favorite and it was director Sundar C who insisted that I should do the role of modern girl Maya in the popular movie.”

Ace music director Ilaiyaraja’s daughter and singer Bhavatharini has now scored the music for a Tamil film, titled Vellachi.
Vellachi is the third Tamil film for which Bhavatharini has scored the music, the other two being Amirtham and Ilakkanam. She has composed the music for films in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi as well.
Point out to her that she will now be competing with her composer brothers Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja, and Bhavatharini says with a smile, “It will be a healthy competition.”
Sanchita’s next Tamil film
Sanchita Shetty, who impressed audiences with her role in Kollaikaran, has signed her next Tamil film, Soodhu Kavvum, opposite Vijay Sethupathi.
A source close to the actor, who is popular in the Kannada film industry, says, “After Kollaikaran, Sanchita was waiting for an exciting script and she found the story of Soodhu Kavvum, being directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, extremely interesting. Shankar-Simbu to join hands- Times of India (tricky title)
The audio launch Santhanam's maiden production venture starring himself and Power Star Srinivasan and VTV Ganesh, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA) will happen on 9th December. It was earlier reported that while Simbu aka STR, who worked with Santhanam in Vaanam, will be seen in a scene in KLTA playing himself, Gautham Menon will be seen as a director who is canning a
shot with the actor.
Looks like the ace director and young super star will join once again for the film's audio launch. The audio will be launched by Director Shankar, who has cast Santhanam in 'I' and Simbu, who introduced Santhanam in his 'Manmadhan', will receive the first copy.
While Vishaka Singh plays the female lead in this Manikandan directed, comedy entertainer, the music has been scored by Thaman and cinematography by Balasubramaniem.
The film is believed to be a full-fledged comedy entertainer which will tickle the funny bones. 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya' is ready to release on 21st December alongside Bala's 'Paradesi' starring Aadharva, Vedhika and Dhanshika.
