Thanks to Kamal, Tamizh films did well again...then it went down to drain no thanks to SRK, the deer hunter and others :evil: I thought the Malays here are still watching hindi films. At the same time, the Malay films sort of got rejuvenated, ellam Hindiya kai kazhuvittanggalaa :PQuote:

but Tamil films became a BO business much later - till then it was just like how it is in US and UK now - to satisfy the audience. I think Padayappaa was the first biggest hit and appeared in top 10. now Tamil films regularly feature in top 10.
