Sorry for not posting my reply in time. Your eloborated post showed a clear picture about the situation of the movies of NT (and others too) in 1976 & 77. Thanks a lot for your hard efforts for collecting them and presenting here.

First oaf all sorry for calling ‘Grahapravesam’ as an average run, but after watching the statistics given by you, I have understood that it is commercially hit movie, crossed 60 days in few and 50 days in many centres in Tamil Nadu.

Feel bad about the pathetic run of a good movie ‘Naam piRandha maN’ which was not touched even 50 days in any centres. Being a patriotic movie, the public should (must) give support for such wonderful creations, without expecting entertainment in all movies. It is quit natural, there will not be commercial aspects in movies like this. But I liked that movie NPM very much, as we are all from patriotic party and desciple of patriotic man NT. Same thing was happened in 1963 also for ‘Raththa Thilagam’. (Gemini’s nice action in NPM as a blind ex-freedom fighter, and touchable scene when he asking about NT’s sister, who was ruined by British man, as saradha said).

The related posts of Saradha mam and Murali sir also brought out many facts to the light. Atleast present TV channels should telecast such movies, sothat present generation can know that, these kind of films were created in past.

Your nerration about ‘PadaithAnE’ song from Nichaya ThAmboolam is simply superb, brought the scenes in front of us. During the release time also it was well recieved by fans and as you rightly said, this song was the inspiration for the ever grenn ‘engE nimmadhi’.

Pammalar sir & Saradha mam,

Your lists about the solo songs of the heroines, where NT will present there but not sing, but shows only facial expression, is a super collection. Particularly the final stylish walk for the song ‘yArukku mApiLLai yArO’ (PPT) and sad expression for the song ‘OhOhO Odum eNNangaLE’ without showing it to “our” Devika, who is singing in a joy mood with unaware of her decease.

Dear Friends

Watched the evergreen "Thillana Mohanambal" y'day with my family. This movie is a particular favourite of my daughter (10 years old) and she would have watched it about 15 times till now.

For the first time y'day she asked me "Appa Sivaji uncle engappa nadaswaram learn panninar, ivallo nalla vasikkirare?". I told her that NT is only acting as if playing a real nadaswaram and actually it is played by a vidwan well versed in this instrument. Believe me or not friends, my daughter refused to accept my reply in all seriousness and said that it is indeed NT and somother vidwan who has actually played the instrument.

She tried to counter me saying that may be the real vidwan would have played for the other actor and not for NT. Even my wife tried to convince her but in vain.

Then I patiently explained the greatness of NT and how he involves himself in each and every character he undertakes. I also showed her clippings of "Pattum Naane Bhavamum Naane" where NT plays various instruments and Mridanga Chakaravarthy.

Finally she understood and asked me a very simple question, "Appo Sivaji uncle thane eppovume no;1 actor, ethukku ivallo actorskku ellam every year prize kodukkuranga, in the mathiri perform pannina avar thane permananta award vangi iurkkanum?. Vera entha actorsum ippadi perform pannaliye"??!!!

I really had no explanation to offer and escaped with some vague replies. This apart, now my daughter has become a very big fan of our NT and she had asked me to provide a list of must watch movies of NT movies which i have started preparing.

The purpose of sending this mail is that how our NT's acting had penentrated and changed the outlook of cinema from the view point of small children like my daughter who understood what is real acting and performance.

Undoubtedly our NT's acting is for all ages, seasons, occasions, decades and centuries.

Thanks Shiva for sharing such a nice information. I think this is enough for our god NT, no need of any award from Indian government.

When younger generation talks about NT and surprise about NT and appreciate NT work then thats enough.

Even after 100 years people will talk of NT and that time no one could remember about any awards only NT will be there in every one heart.

Thanks Mr.Pammalar for the statistical data about SATHYAM & Mr.Ragavendran for some more details about that film. There is no generation slab for NT. Yesterday night I received call from one of our NT fan from Thirukazhukundram. During our talks, he told that his daughter name is PONMAGAL - that name was in memory of Ponmagal Vandhal - Sorgam song, he told. His daughter is studying 5th standard - she also spoke with me and she told me that she is a fan of Sivaji.

So, NT has fans in all generation.
