thanks for uploading the stills taken during the function held at trichy.
Whenever MGR meets an old Lady he hugs them and also questions about their conditions and offers help. And another instance MGR uses to interact with kids. This behaviour was still used by some Leaders in India as well as in foreign countries.
When asked why MGR did these things? some people (who do not like MGR) say because for VOTE sake. But for me I think differently. The love he showered to Old ladies and children came from his heart and not for his political rise as the other Politicians do for the sake of VOTE. Cho Ramasamy (Cho) Editor and Actor sarcastically mentions in his film "Mohammed Bin Thuglaq".
MGR respects women and in his speech intro he uses "Ennai Vazha vaikkum Deivangal agaiya Thaimargala" and then only his fans favourite words "En Rathathin Rathamana Udanpirapukala" (My Dear Blood Brothers).
When MGR comes out of his home he pays respect to his Mother, he constructed a Temple for her Mother in Ramavaram Garden.
Our makkal thilagam is fond of his Mother, in his Biography MGR mentions that his mother used to clean his teeth till he was 17 years old. So much he loved his mother. This is the reason why he always speaks and hugs them in public.

MGR and my Brother.
My brother when he was 6 years had a chance of seeing MGR while he was on an election rally. (MGR in DMK period) The van stopped shortly, MGR looked out, his party members were holding children, he took a girl child having running nose, without any hesitation he took the kerchief wiped her nose clean and kissed her. And next was my brothers turn but he did not go near him feeling MGR hand is dirty that he had just now cleaned her nose.
See a 6 year old is not interested to go near a person like MGR, for the sake of he is not clean enough to kiss him. After many years, my brother regrets that he missed that golden opportunity of touching MGR.

boost to MGR’s image From Marmayogi
Perhaps the most historically significant film of 1951 was K. Ramnoth’s Marmayogi, a Jupiter Pictures’ production made at Central Studios in Coimbatore. This film, a folkloric tale of kings, royal mistresses and rebellious princes was written by A. S. A. Sami who had planned it specially for M. G. Ramachandran.
MGR who made his debut as hero in Sami’s Rajakumari was aware that the success of that film was due to reasons other than himself. It had action, trick scenes, entertainment, sexy dances and the hero was only an auxiliary cause and nothing more. So MGR persuaded Sami to write a script built around him to boost his image as a social rebel, do-gooder, and a fearless fighter for the underprivileged. MGR was an ardent filmgoer and a fan of Hollywood action heroes such as Douglas Fairbanks and Errol Flynn. Fairbanks fascinated him more and he modelled himself after this famous American idol of the Silent Era. Sami worked on a script, a mix of literary and classical elements, for MGR. Inspiration was drawn from the novel “Vengeance” by Marie Correlli and the legend of Robin Hood! MGR was cast as the younger prince who rebels against a woman who usurps his father’s kingdom and lets loose a reign of terror. The king pushed off a boat by his mistress, and presumed to have drowned, escapes and lives in disguise as a mysterious saint (hence the title Marmayogi) and also parades as a ‘ghost’ at nights. The hero turns into a Robin Hood and leads the masses to victory. The name of the hero — Karikalan –— was deliberately chosen to impress and exploit the new feeling of ‘Tamilness’ among the people.

In films of this genre, names of heroes are mostly Sanskrit derivatives such as Veerasimhan and Pratapan. But Sami went for a typical Tamil name, after the name of the famousTamil king, Karikala Chozhan.
Initially the title of this film was Karikalan. Later it was changed so that people don’t mistake it for a historical film. Ramnoth revealed his talents with his technically slick direction. Sama as the king, Anjali Devi as the power-crazy mistress and Sahasranamam as the elder prince performed their roles well. But the movie belonged to MGR. Every word of his dialogue was planned and written to build a special image for him and the lines had multi-layered meanings. One of the lines summed up MGR’s ambitions, personal, and political … “Naan kuri vaithaal thavara maatten! Thavarumey aanaal kuri vaikka maatten!” This dialogue became popular and was greeted with gleeful screams in cinema houses. Strangely the Censors gave Marmayogi an ‘Adults Only’ certificate. Why? The film had a ‘ghost’ and hence the ‘A’ certificate!
Marmayogi’ received a warm welcome from the masses, especially the rapidly increasing rank and file of the MK party. With this film MGR’s image brightened and his career as a political figure was established. Soon he acquired a prefix to his name “Puratchi Nadigar”!

The film was released on 2 February 1951 and was a box office success. It cemented MGR's onscreen image as a champion of the underprivileged and hinted at his political ambitions. His lines in the film became famous - especially the Naan kuri vaithaal thavara maatten! Thavarumey aanaal kuri vaikka maatten (If I aim, it will not fail; if it will fail, I will not aim)

" தியாகராய நகர் பாண்டி பஜாரில் நான் ஒரு சினிமா தியேட்டர் கட்டினேன். அதில் சில பிரச்சனைகள். நாகேஷின் தியேட்டர் பாதியில் நிற்கிறது என்று 'குமுதம்' பத்திரிக்கையில் எழுதியிருந்தார்கள்.
அன்று முதலமைச்சர் அலுவலகத்தில் இருந்து 'எம்.ஜி.ஆர் என்னைச் சந்திக்க விரும்புகிறார்' என்று தகவல் வந்தது. திடீரென்று எம்.ஜி.ஆர் எதற்கு என்னைச் சந்திக்க விரும்புகிறார் என்று எனக்குப் புரியவில்லை. நேரம் குறிப்பிட்டு, தோட்டத்துக்கு வரச் சொன்னார்கள். தோட்டத்துக்குப் போய் எம்.ஜி.ஆரைப் பார்த்தவுடன், பொதுவான நலன் விசாரித்து விட்டு, 'என்ன நீ! பள்ளிக்கூடத்துக்கு எதிரில் சினிமா தியேட்டர் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்? அதற்க்கு ஆட்சேபனை எழுப்பி, புகார்கள் வருகின்றன!' என்றார்.
'நான் தியேட்டர் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருப்பது வாஸ்தவம்தான். அதனால் உங்களுக்கு ஏதாவது ஆட்சேபம் என்றால் சொல்லுங்கள். தியேட்டரை இடித்து விடுகிறேன்!' என்றேன்.
இப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு பதிலை அவர் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை போலும்!
'அப்படியெல்லாம் அவசரப்பட்டுப் பண்ணாதே! ஸ்கூலுக்கு எதிரில் சினிமா தியேட்டர் என்பதால் தான் ஆட்சேபனை...' என்று அவர் சொல்லவும், 'சார்! உங்களுக்கு தெரியாத ஒரு விஷயத்தை நான் ஒன்னும் புதுசா சொல்லிடப் போறதில்லை! ஆனாலும், என் மனசில் பட்டதைச் சொல்கிறேன்' என்று சொல்லி விட்டு, 'பள்ளிக்கூடத்துப் பசங்க, ஸ்கூலைக் கட் பண்ணிட்டு, சினிமாவுக்குப் போகணும்னு நினைச்சா, ஸ்கூலுக்கு நேர் எதிரில் இருக்கிற தியேட்டருக்குப் போவாங்களா?' என்றேன் சற்று மெலிதான குரலில்.
'அப்படீன்னு சொல்லுறியா நீ?' என்று கேட்டு விட்டு, சில நிமிடங்கள் அமைதியாக இருந்தார்.
பிறகு, 'சரி! நீ போகலாம்! நான் இந்த விஷயத்தைப் பார்த்துக்குறேன்!' என்றார். நான் விடைபெற்றுக்கொண்டேன்.
இரண்டு வாரம் கழித்து, நாகேஷ் தியேட்டருக்கான அரசாங்க லைசன்ஸ் வந்தது.

எம்.ஜி.ஆர் என்னைப் பொருத்தவரை இன்னொரு யுக்தியை ஷூட்டிங்கின்போது கடைப்பிடிப்பார். நேரத்துக்குப் போனாலும் சரி, தாமதமாகப் போனாலும் சரி, செட்டுக்குள் போனவுடன், 'வாங்க! என் பேர் எம்.ஜி.ராமச்சந்திரன்' என்று சிரித்தபடியே அறிமுகப்படுத்திக்கொள்வார். நான் சும்மா இருப்பேனா? பதிலுக்கு 'நான் செய்யூர் கிருஷ்ணாராவ் நாகேஸ்வரன்' என்று அறிமுகம் செய்துகொள்வேன். எம்.ஜி.ஆரே முதலில் கையை நீட்ட நானும் கை குலுக்குவேன்.
அடுத்து, 'ஒரு பதினைந்து நிமிஷம் எடுத்துக்கலாம். மேக்கப் ரூமுக்குப் போய் டச் அப் பண்ணிட்டு, ஏதாவது டெலிபோன் பண்ணனும்னா, அதையும் முடிச்சிட்டு வந்துடு. ஷூட்டிங் ஆரம்பிச்சதும் வேற எந்தத் தொந்தரவும் இருக்கக் கூடாது' என்பார்.
இதை மேலோட்டமாகப் பார்க்கிறபோது எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்கு ஷூட்டிங்கில் வேறு எந்தத் தடங்கலும் தாமதமும் இருக்கக்கூடாது என்பதுதான் வெளிப்படும்.ஆனால், அதற்க்கு ஓர் உள்அர்த்தம் உண்டு. மேக்கப் ரூமுக்குப் போய், டெலிபோன் என்பதெல்லாம் சும்மா ஒரு சம்பிரதாயம். எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்குத் தம் எதிரில் யாரும் சிகரெட் பிடித்தால் பிடிக்காது. சில சமயம் கோபப்படுவார். நானோ நிறைய சிகரெட் பிடிக்கிறவன். எனவே என்னால் அனாவசியமாக எந்தப் பிரச்சனையும் வந்து விடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காக முன்னெச்சரிக்கையாக இந்த டெக்னிக்கைக் கையாள்வது அவரது ஸ்டைல்.
