Ra.One leads the race followed by Velayutham and 7 Am Arivu.
80.25 crores in 5 days. Fantastic. Waiting for Chennai potti.
I don't think Ayngaran released Vela in US. Yaaru pannanganu seriya therla but dint see Ayngaran name in the titles. Anyway 7AM had everything to become top grosser in US. No surprise.

Indian imports were rife tied to that nation’s Diwali holiday. The fantasy RA. One, promoted as Bollywood’s most expensive production ever, had an opening weekend of $1.23 million plus $300k from its Wednesday bow. Telugu 7 Aum Arivu (and its dubbed version 7th Sense) provided a hearty $294,000 at 61 cinemas while Tamil cinema’s Velaudhum was sturdy with $108,000 at 22 sites.

Biggest release of the year thus far; Sun Pictures; Thala 50; Ajith in a full fledged bad-man character; Action King; Yuvan’s music – things don’t get bigger. It looks like a juggernaut at the moment.
Trade Talk:
You know about Ajith’s openings. And, if the response is anything to go by, this one is in for a long run.
Public Talk:
Thala Pola Varuma.

Velayudham might be the remake of the Hindi film Azad, but that’s exactly what his fans asked for. There is Vijay in all his glory, fights, comedy, sentiment and songs. What more could a die-hard Vijay fan ask for.
Trade Talk:
Though it fell short of making as good advance collections as 7aum Arivu, Velayudham was not quite far behind.
Public Talk:
Velayudham might just be the surprise winner for Diwali what with Vijay delivering what his fans expect out of him.

Touted to be a sci-fi thriller, 7aum Arivu opened with huge expectations quite unseen for any movie in recent times. Suriya is paired with Shruti who is making her Tamil debut. Murugadoss wields the baton while Harris scores for the movie.
Trade Talk:
Although the movie received a phenomenal opening, thanks to the stupendous advance booking record, sustaining the opening mayhem depends solely on the movie’s performance in the coming weeks.
Public Talk:
It is a mix bag response for 7aum Arivu and it seems like fans are voicing disappointment over the movie’s inconsistencies.

It's Mankatha, Mankatha, Mankatha all the way...The festival season of Ramzan and Vinayaga Chathurthi became an event at the CBO with the release of Thala Ajith’s Mankatha on August 31. The Ajith film went on to take an earth shattering opening and is the clear number one by a mile!
Mankatha has netted an unbelievable whopping Rs 2.72 crore in the five-day festival weekend from 19 screens in Chennai city. The multiplexes gave it the maximum number of shows including morning shows in all screens. Sathyam Cinemas reported a net of Rs 33, 72, 000 from two screens for the five-day weekend.

BM,
evvlo azhagaa sila vishayam maraikkeenga :rotfl2: They mentioned 5 days collections. And in special note they had mentioned this "* Diwali special shows are not considered while calculating box office collections.". Under all cases they would have considered those as special shows. Also Diwali morning special shows they would not have considered for both Vela and 7th sense.
NOV,
With those special shows a day before diwali, 7th sense collection would be extremely good. For the matter of fact, Sathyam Cinemas itself screened overall 27 shows on Tuesday. Approximately Sathyam cinemas itself would have collected 8 lakhs on Tuesday. Looks like BW dont want to upset Rival fans. So they safely mentioned Diwali special shows were not considered :lol2:
Overall it is again proved that Surya is the King / Emperor / Emperor's Wife of Opening  And he is proving his opening BO pulls in consistency. Not once in a No moon day
Now everybody know who is king of opening?.. None other thanThala ajith.! Average theatre occupancy-95% ,tharu maru!!;-)
