Just recently I got around to watch Jodha Akbar on flight (no other option). Initially I watched it for ARR's songs and BGM. The first 30 minutes were pretty bad, not since Sanjay khan's sunday show tipu sultan, I had to sit through such corny war scenes. And ARR's BGM was unbeleivably disappointing, he normally revels in such scenes. But I still havent gone to Jashn-E-bahara and In lamhon, so I was willing to wait.
But surprisingly the film did get better and I found myself enjoying the post-marriage love scenes. It was like mounaragam film set in historic times. And ARR more than made up for his disappointing show in the beginning. What a lovely score!!! If you think Jashn E bahaara is sweet, watch it on the film... it is simply BEAUTIFUL, it captures the beautiful feeling of love throbbing between the leads, it is like that gentle breeze which makes you feel good about everything around you. The mood of the song was SPOT ON!!!
It is not a novel story, the director sticks to the cliches, but I seem to develop a taste for cliched scenes these days (last one I liked was vennila kabadi kuzhu). I found myself smiling at the small LCD screen most of the time. The dialogues were very bland though... Whatever the audience has to infer from the scene, is narrated directly in the dialogue.
Akbar: I want to give respect to your feelings. I will not touch you without your consent.. bla bla... WTH!!!
When Akbar's BIL instructs his wife not to go to her brother's wedding, she turns the sky and gasps "Bhayya.. mujhe maaf kheejiye" :banghead:
Cinematography was awesome!! great colors and camera angles, some spectacular shots every now and then.
Definitely a good watch, for music and camera (ofcourse the leads). Please dont mind the beginning and the ending :P
