You guys are continuously underrating Arrambam's success but what amusing is believing Thuppakki's 180Cr gross.. LoL!! FYI, Arrambam overseas itself grossed 25+ Cr.. overall it was close to 100 cr ..

Thuppaki BO collection alone wont be 185 crores.. It might be inclusive of total worldwide gross + TV rights + Remake rights.. But i am nt sure..

In an interview, Kalaipuli S Dhanu mentioned that Thuppaki crossed 185 crores..

Dismiss Dhanu's claim of 187 if you want but it made an outstanding180 according to Eros in their analysis of regional movies box office performance- company which has no reason to lie. You can google 'eros Thuppakki 180 crores' and you can find the paper. Which is why Thuppakki is hailed as a true blockbuster.

He not only confirms it but also points to the article which talks about the 187 crore. I'm sure he doesn't need to lie or have a personal motive in admitting the fact.

Most of the ajith fans are ‘youth’ who are eager for movies like Mankatha (or) Billa where the hero plays a baddie.Even if he doesn’t play a baddie , becoming as successful as vijay in a classical movie is a Big Question. Whereas Vijay is very much welcomed and loved by family audiences. His movies like Sachein , Nanban , Kadhalukku Mariyadhai etc have always been family oriented . And dealing with brother- sister emotions are often considered as typical vijay movies which still works for him. There’s no doubt that he’s a family entertainer!
9>Love Him or Hate Him but you just can’t ignore him

Be it a Ajith movie or a surya movie that has been newly released , the first and constant comparison would always be only with a Vijay movie. Have we seen anyone comparing Maatran(or)7aam Arivu with Mankatha(or)billa2 ? Noo . . But , Mankatha(or)Billa2 , 7aam Arivu(or)Maatran were always compared with Velayudham(or)Thupakki. They Say If you Wana be the best? Then you gotta take out the best and that’s the reason why every other movie is thrown in comparison with one and only vijay movies. Love him or Hate Him it’s just not possible to ignore him , especially at the Box Office.
10>Vijay is the king of kollywood

Now let’s sum it up. .Ajith and Surya lose the battle when it comes to box office , multitasking , stardom. While ajith fails as a family entertainer , surya fails when it comes to success with new directors. Vijay is undoubtedly the king of box office after Rajinikanth , his feat achieved by Thupakki is still not achieved by any of his competitors (neither Ajith nor Surya). Vijay is barely challenged by any lead actors when it comes to multitasking ( possibly Silambarasan but he is no match to vijay at box office). And most reliable sources of Google , facebook , Hindu too favour Vijay for largest fan base and most searched kollywood.

Hope Vijay turns the corner in AP, which is his Achilles' heel.

People who enjoy good market in AP built it by working with good makers. ARM would certainly add more points, but Vijay should continue working with good filmmakers.

A few of his good commercial hits were remade in telugu by Pawan garu and became hits there as well. No wonder he is a hit amongst the telugu stars...but I agree...he should focus on working with good directors and building a strong base in AP. Cheers!!
