Hi !
"en uyir kannamma" has a meaty role for lakshmi with Prabhu and Radha in the lead role.
Apart from "poomparaiyil thottil kattum punguruvi" by IR himself, "nAdOdi pAttugaL nAn padippEn" by SPB is another good one !

No wonder this Chitra's song never became popular... what can she do poor her if IR's composition is so horrendous... lol.
naan kuththalam poaga poren angu kummalam poada poren is also a nice song in this movie. Coming to todays pick, I rate it to be one of the best songs of chithra. It went unnoticed like vaanampadi paadum neram from sir, I love u. Ramki, u can consider to host this song as pow. Todays song is by lakshmi when prabhu, in drinks, spoils lakshmi thinking abt radha. antha unificationil lakshmi paadum pattu thaan idhu. konjam konjam pon vaanam panner thoovudhu inneram from indru nee naalai naan pola enakku intha pattu scenes thoandrum.
Really unfortunate that such a gem of a melody should go unrecognized. This song portrays complex emotions like
passion, guilt, longing , loneliness and also forebodes a tragedy. Set to shivaranjini , I have highlighted this unheard beauty in few older threads.
Sivachandran showed some promise as a director with a difference, but lost his way in the middle. After Lakshmi's death, the movie becomes unbearable. Sivachandran should have taken effort to shape up the hero's character as well.
I can distinctly recall the beautiful , quaint piece of
rerecording in Revathi ragam played thru the veena whenever Lakshmi meets VKR (surprisingly , a fine performance by him)

Song: arpanam unakke
Film: poKKisham
Singer: SPB
Lyrics: ?
Music: Satyam?
An energetic solo by SPB.
Popular telugu MD Satyam did very few tamil movies. 'vilangu meen', 'santhosha kanavugaL', 'pennin vaazhkai' etc are some of his other films. I remember reading somewhere that he worked in MSV's troupe and later Maragathamani worked as his assistant.
kaNNe en azhagu raani' is another popular song from poKKisham.
I vaguely remember that prakash(azhage unnai aaradhikkiren fame) fame was the hero in poKKisham.

Song: irukkum idam enge
Film: panithirai
Singer: PSuseela
Lyrics: kannadasan?
Music: KVM
A soulful solo by PS. Song is for Sarojadevi. Songs like todays pick prove why she is fondly called isaikuyil of TFM.
Manisekaran writes:
Gemini Ganesan and Saroja Devi star in this film. There are three very nice songs worth mentioning.
1. There is a wonderful song by P. Suseela, very well written by Kannadasan on the marriage event in Tamil community. The song touches on the feelings of the bride as well as her parents. The tune itself is very well composed to accommodate the descriptions and the feelings expressed.
Varuga varuga Enru
Solli Azhaippar
Silar Vaasal vazhiyil Ninru Panner Thelippaar
2. There is a duet by PBSreenivas and P. Suseela. The tune is taken form a Hindi song.
Ore Kelvi Ore Kelvi Enthan Nenjile
Ore bathil Ore bathil Enthan Nenjile
1. PB Sreenivos sings a philosophical solo, expressing the split character of human beings
Etho Manithan Piranthuvittaan
Avan Eno Marampol Valarnthuvittaan
a beuatiful - well crafted song..
PS did a fantastic job while KD,KVM have given their best
That would have been fun to watch :)Quote:

Song: engaathu paiyan
Film: iLaiyarajavin rasigai
Singers : Sjanaki, Malaysia Vasudevan, SPShailaja
Lyrics: ?
Music: iLaiyaraja
Songs of the unreleased 'iLaiyarajavin rasigai' made its rounds on ilangai vaanoli during the mid to late 80s. The film was either never made or its still lying in the cans. I think vetri was the hero in IR
The other songs i remember are
'maalai itta vaanam un kolamthaano'(IR, SPS) and
'aaha iruttu neram' (SJ, JC).
Ramki, many thanks for bringing this nice song to light. This must be a situation song and is based on Mohanam. I remember another classy duet(MV and SPS) in Hindholam "Anandha then kaatru thaalaattudhe" where MV has sung like CSJ
