when pete broke Rod Laver's record and stood at 14, i thought this record will be unbroken for atleast 30-40 years.......my heart bleeds to see his record broken as early as this and without even 2% of the struggle he put to achieve it.... :cry2: .....

Djokovic Beats Federer to Win Rogers Cup
this young guy showed immense strength tobeat the world champion
henever gave up any point in the game
he broke federer from 40 -0 in the last game of the first set to take it to a tie breaker and win the first set
His serves were good, return, volley defence shots all were perfect!!
He not only beat federer, but beat Nadal in semis, Roddick in quarters and nalbandian in the 3'rd round.
He is definitely a star performer and has the talent to win major titles

oh sad. Djokovic was lucky
Guys,
US Open is going to be kicked off starting tommorrow. I know Emperor is the favourite & will try to create history by winning fourth in a row.
I have some strange feeling that he may be knocked off either in quarters of semis this time around. I mean there is no technical prrof to this, but that is my gut feeling........ We are not seeing the complete dominance of him any more in the recent times...
Any thoughts???
Unfortunately, I also think so, Thalai wont last till 1/4 or 1/2, ealrlier than that to some new guy ! If at all he reaches quarters or semis, then no stopping him!
Amen to the above two, especially after seeing the Master's final :(
Roger Federer is a much better player than pete sampras.Quote:

Competition is too lame, cause he is a class act, dude.
The Master fends off two tie breaks against Ace King Rod 8-)
Federer MUST take the honors of holding all the possible records! I dont think after him, there can be any player of this caliber! 8-)
I thought the same in 2002 when Sampras retired too, btw! :P
HE won! :notworthy:  :bluejump:

It is really amazing (don't know how many more times we have to say this) just to even think about what Federrer has done the past 4 years...........
To maintain the standard event after event & be in 9 straight grand slam finals (10th is on the way) WOW, simply mind blowing.
I had a strange feeling that this would be the event where he might get knoced off in the earlier rounds, but now another grand slam looks imminent (Novak still may be a handfull though).
I don't think I have seen a greater player than him in my period (Have watched from Lendl to the current bunch). What consistency & what a smooth court coverage. AWESOME!!!!!!!
One of the best matches EVER! 8-)

Woooohooooo....the soon to be greatest of all time does it again.
Djokovic was in his first Slam final, yet he led 6-5 in each of the opening two sets. In the first, the 20-year-old Serb held five set points. In the second, he held two.
"My next book is going to be called, 'Seven Set Points,'" Djokovic said
:rotfl:
Don corleone of tennis wins both wimbledon and usopen 4 times consecutively :P 8-)
the world no. 3 Djokovic was v. good in semi final and final. Nadalin 2nd place-ku Aapathu
Nadal didnt make it to the semis and if i am not wrong i didnt see him in Quarters either!!
The problem with Nadal is that the nature of his game has backfired a lot of times. He's the most physically impressive player on the tour but the physical demands on his body will be taking a terrible toll and he is at the peak of his powers as an athlete.Quote:

Federer peaked at the age of 24 or 25 but that does not mean that Nadal also can do that because Federer's style of playing is so effortless unlike Nadal who puts so much pressure on himself with his powerful style.
The schedule factor is also there. He almost played double the tournaments that Federer did just to get hold of the no 1 ranking this year (granted he was quite close on points). But he is not gonna get there easily anyway because Djokovic can beat him on two surfaces and he has proven that. So before Nadal thinks about the No.1 ranking he has to seriously worry about Djokovic displacing him at No.2.
Nadal put so much effort on clay courts a season that he is almost exhausted at every us open. It doesn't make sense to play a clay court tournament (Stuttgart) after wimbledon but he did. This is where i think Nadal and his camp can learn a thing or two from Federer who listens to his body and plans his tournaments accordingly. Afterall, in modern day tennis, its the slams that are the defining moments.
For all Federer fans, check this out. A 50+ minute show on some of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport discussing Federer. Even Nadal adds some funny and great comments.
Federer himself is interviewed. I know its 50+ minutes long but if you have the patience you are gonna enjoy it.
