The govt has imposed half an hour power cut from today-“following the grave crisis in power sector due to weak monsoon and cut in state’s share from the central pool.”
With the weak monsoon power, generation from hydroelectric projects was only 1000 MW. The total demand during power hours was 2700 MW but the state gets only 2200 MW. The original allotted share from central pool was 1041 MW but the state was only getting 600 to 700 MW. The State electricity board demanded one hour shedding to overcome the shortage of 500 MW during peak hours. From today 30 minutes power cut will be imposed from today onwards between 6.30pm and 10 pm.
The capital witnessed non-stop violence for the fourth day-today.
Impotent bureaucracy, useless police force left the capital out of gear.
Yesterday the city witnessed open street fight between CPI (M) and BJP. The BJP has declared harthal today.
The reason is the textbook controversy-which has been going on since last fortnight.
The work diary carried the picture of a frog instead of Mahatma Gandhi.
In addition, the seventh std textbook is alleged of injecting Marxism and anti-religious thoughts. Muslim, Christian, and Hindu communities have unanimously demanded the withdrawal of the textbook.
Sorry to say so. on 20th of this month kerala witnessed 82nd harthal in 2008.
the tearful face of a bereaved mother haunted many-when Rodiya bound to kottayam-on hearing the death of her 3 years old son Ronal-was stranded at the Thiruvananthapuram railway station. the agitators picketed the jayanthi janatha express.
when the issue was brought to the notice of the leader M M Lawrence State general secretary CITU,remarked thus "such things do happen do not link such instances with strike-we never planned to organized strike-presuming that the child would die.this is a sheer coincidence. the media is highlghting such instances just to turn the public against strike..flights were delayed...at certain places it didn't took off..buses were delayed--blaming the agitation and the agitators is not fair"
E P Jyarajan went one step further "it is the American interest that is behind the publicity the incident received"
HOW DO U LIKE THAT?
a gruop of young men celebrated Independence Day-by riding on the motor bike with tricolor. the police arrested them for not wearing helmet.
on the harthal day-three ministers-Mullakkara Ratnakaran. M A Baby and G Sudhakaran went in motorbike without helmet. the photogrpahs were published in all news papers and as expected no action was taken against them
It seems CPI (m) has become a pvt ltd co.
the party recently inaugurated "water theme park" in kannur and now has bought 58 cents and proposed to buy 2 more acres to construct Five star hotel worth 20 crores in Calicut!
How do u like that?
kerala is facing power crisis and the govt has imposed 30 mits power cut daily betwen 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm.

reently the govt conducted one day harthal(read bandh as it is banned in kerala)-the 82nd one in 2008. it was againtt price hike, the state govt last weel increased the electricty and water tarrifs!!

Thiruvananthapuram now accomodates plenty of citizens from Maldives. they come mainly for treatment.
Obviously they stay near the medical college and last week they convened to discus the election at their homeland. they displayed posters in different parts of the city.
