however, except "naina bole naina", the other songs sound very southy, and its hard to imagine how a northy audience would appreciate that. But "naina bole naina" more than makes up for the rest - what an orchestration! It could be one of the best hindi songs in the last few decades..

I was having a very serious arguement with a friend of mine few months back. He sounded the same as you had said. I was reverting back saying, its neither south nor north Raaja's music have only one genre 'Ilaiyaraaja'!. its us who have listened to his songs so much, tend to think of his musical patterns belonging to South but his music is universal :)
