Few points regarding y Amaidhipadai remains one of the best for Sathyaraj / one of the best in Tamil cinema:
* amaidhipadai released during one of the kazhaga aatchi in 1994.. the dialogues & scenes were apt for that period & even for previous aatchis. Even after 15 years.. the film & the dialogues are fresh & resemble the current political situation.
* U have some films where hero has 2 names.. sometimes after get-up change etc. But most of the time u won't remember them in the long run.. but when u r asked about the character names of SR u wud say immediately.. Amavasai & nagaraja sozhan MLA.
* though there is a 3rd character (thangavelu -- played by SR again) who is the good man.. but no body remembers this name much
* when ever u see anti hero film.. at some point of time he will be shown as a good person.. very rarely he remains bad.. any examples for that? u have to think.. but Amaidhipadai comes to ur mind very easily... the story revolving around a bad man till the end of the film & people liked this bad man
* Amavasai.. previously, this name was given for senthil's characters for humour character.. but manivannan & SR took it for them & now it remains their property
* & they popularised another unique character Nagaraja chozhan MLA
* any hit film / long standing film would have left some memorable dialogues... & this one has many & the most famous one is "sozhar parambaraiyil oru MLA"
* more importantly, SR's humour is received well when he comes with Gounder. But this film shows that he can manage even without Gounder & also, this film is directed by his best director in his career
