I have this really, really churning feeling in my stomach that a big innings and a golden period is due for Ponting.
I mean, his career has definitely mirrored Sachin's in terms of success - in the sense that started slowly, then had a outstanding period, followed by a relative slump. But all through, except for that Indian tours, he never is in dumps for long. Within 3-4 tests, he scores big. So, I guess like Sachin, he will have a revival period(as Sachin has been having post 2007).
I mean the way it has been happening is that when Sachin during 2002-2003 was on top, he was the undisputed king, then a few successes for Ponting and relative failures for Sachin led vested interests to anoint Ponting as the best taking full advantage of Sachin's lean period. Today, the situation is reverse but given that everything that has happened to Sachin has happened to him at a broad level, I expect that Ponting has a revival period before he retires.
Long and short of it, in my books, Ponting is still the front runner for maximum centuries in Test Cricket and highest run aggregate in test cricket. And THAT IS NOT CHATTERJEE!!!
Ok
Isn't it a two test series :roll:Quote:
