By the without any doubt he is multi talented who has good knowledge in direction, editing, etc...

If the multi talented you are talking about taking different characters then definetly he did not much roles. Still he did a lots of challenging roles before 1970's. those movies are already posted by several people here. If you have not watched those movies and go and watch them and then post here.
