Mysskin is not getting his facts right -> Raaja used oboe in the Malayalam movie 'Guru' for the first time.
Today's ergo reports that film release is postponed to may probably after elections...

Needless to say Thiruvasakam.
Even there was article on IR using a Japanese oboe player for one of his albums a few years back.
This may just be a typical hype factor. Myskin, in that sense, disappoints as his interview otherwise showcases a very sophisticated personality.
I remember reading that oboe was used for Guru - Malayalam.Quote:

in the same vein, any orchestra that plays anyone's piece will clap/applaud at the end, thats almost a formality, a ritual, a must! but edho IR music compose panni adhai vaasichadhukappuram dhaan, yellorum applaud senjadhu maadhiri oru impression create panna vendiya avasiyam edhukku ??
irir123,
Thats true for a performance on a stage ..but not so for cinema re-recordings :)
Actually no. It is a practice for any recording. The end-motive (concert or film or rehearsal or whatever) could be different, but westerners have the habit of ending any 'session' with an applause, just to end the day on a good note and have a feel good factor. and it is not just for clasiscal orchestra but any gathering of musicians does that. it is quite common. the applause is for the person who got them there to do that and also to everyone in the team. it is a gesture of respect and also enjoyment. it is a cultural aspect. thats all, and we can see it not only in music field, but anywhere. Like if my senior Managers come from abroad and we have a daylong session about something, be it a meeting or a just any event, they end the day by thanking the people who organize the event and also the participants, by clapping and standing ovation. Matter of gesture.Quote:

Journalists shld write about how the orchestra felt, playing those pieces. Since they are knowledgeable, knowing their reactions would be more interesting. Mere standing ovation cannot be a barometer of IR's talent.
