Nandhalala : Myskin

I think this film is gonna be released sooner or later. Yesterday, in Kamala cinemas, they showed a new trailer. GV Films is going to release the movie.

It's extremely funny to see the struggle of this movie to get released in theaters - while a dozen x-y-z movies get released every month.

Supposedly an "international" producer and a director whose two prior films (that comprise his total body of works) were commercial successes.

There could be only one reason - the end product isn't worth the money being asked for. (Not necessarily bad - there're tons of duds that get released every week - but NL must have been disproportionately priced).

And that could only be attributed to high production costs (and hence the producer cannot cut the sale price as that would mean a big loss, especially when coupled with other marketing costs - the losses may be much less if nothing more is done about it).

The logical end is to make an outright sale to another company - recover as much cost as possible and not spend a single more dime on it.

So, there's nothing to look forward - even if this gets released! Will be a dud is a foregone conclusion.

A_E - ungalukku thamizhnaattu distributor - financiergalai paththi onyume theriyalaingaradhu romba thelivu. This is not a market where the farmer knows the cow - idhu pallai paakaamale maadu vaangara sandhai. Angaadi theru was also lying in the cans for a long long time - why - no one knows.

i have not given up hope in such a fashion (at least not yet!)

Mullum malarum (the producer-financier ran away after seeing the rushes of the film shot ! only the climax and some song were left to be shot and Mahendran had noone to finance him - enter Kamal, who saw the film, was so impressed with it, he financed the rest of the film and also helped Mahendran in getting distributors to release the film! the rest is history),
Nayagan (something similar - GV cudnt find enough distributors and enough screens in chennai - but WOM did everything for the film - NAYAGAN made history)

Kamal has seen NL and is immensely impressed with the output! thats enough for me - I have great hopes on Kamal the fan (with one film every 2 years, my hopes on Kamal the creator are dwindling, so Kamal the fan comes to the fore! :roll: )

so this film might still break even, or even make history - lets wait!
