Dangerous thread, after reading posts here, I had a lengthyyyyyyy dream of me back in my schooldays but now carefully listening to the songs while getting ready...I ended up coming late to office, hahahaha!
Anyway, just for a short while, I became 20 years younger :-))

M4Ever/Prabhu/Mythila: Thanks for the inputs.
Today's "down the memory lane" features some "soga" SPB songs from that era.
I have always cherished SPB's vivacious songs such as
Aval Oru pacchai kuzhandai padum paravai, paduthaal purandaal etc and the songs below
which I remember now wasnt therefore facied much by me. Anyways here I go........
1.
Uchi vaguntheduthu pichi poo vecha kili
pacha mala pakkathula meyudunu sonnanga
meyudinu sonnadila nyayamenna kannaatha...
I think this song is from Rosapoo ravikkaikari or panchakalyani
Knowledgable please confirm.
2.
Boomadevi pole vazhum
jeevan needanae
aaram arivai ezham manidan
XXXXXX marandaane
3.
Naa onna nenaichaen
Nee enna nenaichay
Onnala sondham rendachu
Namma yaru piricha
Oru kodu kizhicha
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This is think is from Kannil Theriyum Kadaigal which also featured another nice
song by SPB,SJ and Vani jayaram
Naan Oru ponnoviyam kandaen edirae
Ilamai inimai idu pudumai
bodai tharum naadaswaram
paadidum senthen mazhai undan mozhiyo
parvaiyil aayiram
kavidhaigal ezhudidum abhinayam (Naan)
More latter..

Raj:
TMS in the 70-80s was fun to listen to. Infact the "nallavarkellam saatchigal rendu.." song was a good song and to the contrary Sivaji made a subdeued performance on the screen while TMS was at his overreaction best. Specifically lines like "paravaigalE badhil sollungal...".
Somehow I found listening to TMSs songs when he had gone nasal fun. Another song is from Naan Vaazhavaippen, "Endhan pon vanname anbu poovanamme".
Who can forget the oliyum oliyum fav. "Neramidhu Neramidhu nenjil oru paatezhudha..." to see the two obese actors (Sivaji and KRV) was just a laugh riot.
There are many more like "Kankanda dheivame ...." from Keezhvaanam sivakkum.
Finally TR-TMS classic "Naan oru raasiyilla raaaja ...." wow what a song.
I concur with you with those days of bell bottoms, when I finally managed to get my parents to get me one they went out of date and I made a very sorry figure. Cant forget those days.
Iam not sure if many would share this feeling, born and brought up in Mylapore one could never escape those songs. I still have a very good collection of TMS Murugan songs and LREs maariamman songs. I listen to them once in a while and it gets me back to those school days in Mylapore, Bazaar Road.
These days we dont have that many koil vizhaas, we used to have a big cinema paattu katcheri every year on Vinayaka chathurthi day and what fun it was. Infact the reason I like more of those 70s-80s songs are because of those katcheris.

Purv, u go ahead and love it. It is definitely a fabulous composition in Mohanam. But look at the flaws in execution. This is one area where MDs like ARR, VS score over IR IMO. 1. Sound engineering at its worst 2. Both SPB's and PS's voices fall flat at higher notes. 2. The flute piece in one of its interludes is not rendered well(some flat notes creep in). IR should take all the mis credit for this .
