Mirchi.... Family drama + Action movie..

it s one of few movies which entertains all kind of viewers ...:clap:

Should be masala kinda movie...bt apart frm tat, it entertains the viewers to watch pleasantly..

Richchaa s luking very slim :thumbsup:... Anoushka as usual gorgeous.. ayo oru paattu'la Anoushka :sigh:.. Koduthu vacha telugu audiences...

an not get bored even a single second while watching...

Sathyaraj :thumbsup:...Gud actor...He should be used as actor Prabhu instead of acting in Nagaraja kinda movies...

Sum of the actors r frm kollywood...Sathyaraj,Nadhiya,Sampath...

Usual story..bt worth to watch...

Mirchi.... Family drama + Action movie : OK (Son of Mahalakshmi with violence)
its one of few movies which entertains all kind of viewers : If anyone can get passed the interval block fight scene, then why not
Anoushka as usual gorgeous : true
No comments on Satyaraj and Richa

Prabhas, as usual, was not effectively used for his physique and dialogue delivery. Most of the scenes he stands dumb and the fight scenes are a joke. We want Chatrapathi Prabhas and not the Billa one. The Son/parents sentiment was quite heavy that you take deep breathes whenever either Nadia or Satyaraj are on scene. The intro of Prabhas into the village with the "Mirchi" song and the marriage sequence is worth mentioning though.

yes..Prabhas dialogue delivery is nt suited in few scenes...especially speaking with his enemies s lik soft speech instead of angry speech..
the tone of prabhas voice is sumthing unique nd nt suited on-screen...

No not like that, I just dont want to give it away. Jr NTR Padam - will have something for each one - Dance, fight, comedy, thundering dialogues (while slaping his own shoulders or laps or tunning his mustache) .. etc., but rest is to see whether the movie on the whole was satisfactory.

Yaro Ivan was OK to listen... - uthayam nh4

One thing I found it was done well is heroine's dubbing.. fluent Kannada broken tamil

Over the weekend :

1)Seethamma vaakitlo sirimalle chettu : Slice of life with events rather than a structured story driving the film but came across as very disjointed and incohesive.

Venkatesh looked uncomfortable and the opening dance and the mannerism of lifting his collar from behind did not help at all.He looked very old too for the role.

Mahesh Babu did well but was restricted by a screenplay which did not define his role properly.

Anjali and Samantha were eye pleasing with cute expressions and way of delivering dialogues(which incidentally could have been much much better)

Prakash Raj,Jayasudha,Rohini Hattangadi,Kota Srinivasa rao are all veterans and it will be surprising if they don't perform well in roles which do not need much exertion.

The highlight for me was the locations,the way they were captured and the songs(very pleasing).

Overall,underwhelming film.

2)Naan(on SunTV) : Very very impressed.Could make out that a lot of thought has gone in not just to keep the screenplay taut and engaging but also to cover all angles where questions could be raised and give them a logical closure.

Everybody was adequate,Vijay Antony probably looked a bit old for the role but the way the screenplay moved shut out this line of thought for me.

The director ensured I was desperately rooting for Karthik/Salim from the start without painting the opposite characters in black.

This film just reiterated that atleast the new age directors should ensure that their films get a VCD/DVD/Blue ray release.It's criminal to keep looking out at TV channels to catch up on such films.

PS:Hope this is not a copy of any foreign film.

3)Barfi - Simple film but somehow could not get emotionally connected at all expect the two scenes towards the end when Barfi finds Jhilmil at 'Muskaan' and when Jhilmil dies sleeping next to/on Barfi after his death.

Ranbir got his Chaplinesque act spot on,Priyanka was a surprise(atleast for me)as Jhilmil and Ileana as Shruthi was beautiful(though she looked very South Indian/less Bengali in the 'after-her-marriage' scenes.)

Music was good and so was the locations and the Cinematography.

But will strongly object to comparing this film with Moonram Pirai,that is another level and KH/Sridevi are all class.

Naan : As per my knowledge, its an original attempt (except for the motivation kind of things (as explained by NOV on the above post) which cannot be done otherway). The movie clicks mainly due to the placid acting of Vijay Anthony (as I had mentioned in my review)

Barfi - I would not say the movie to be simple, for that Rockstar also. Did not talk about these movies as I was not sure if there would be some people interested. Talking about Barfi, the excellent characters are its charm which are well integrated with the surrounding. Secondly ofcoarse the mind blowing performences, as you have mentioned the suprise being Priyanka. Well, first of all you cannot compare this movie with Moonram Pirai, if anyone does, there is no point in drawing in the comparison with the performences. The reason is simple, the characters are not on the same level - In Barfi they are born mute and deaf, so their up-bringing (growth) counts a lot on their adult attitude. Whereas in Moonram Pirai its an accident oriented shock that is projected. For me Barfi's task is much heavier than that of Moonram Pirai, eventhough Kamal and Sridevi are all class.

Simple as in a fairly easy story to verbally narrate.

Brought in MP as I had read some comments at various places comparing both.Purely on performance,MP trumps Barfi.

Have not seen Rockstar.

My only problem is that I could not connect with the movie emotionally as in did not feel for any character,the way I connected to Vijay Antony in Naan(saw this & Barfi back to back,probably it influenced my thinking).

I really like Ranbir,feel he is a natural actor.

Barfi- wanabe qolity film..both ranbir and priyanka were in im-aiming-for-NA mode..

For Barfi, the reason that you have given could be taken into account. I insist on the mood. You got be prepared to watch a movie like barfi. If it had put a smile on you face and then stuck you with a ball in your throat, then you have enjoyed Barfi. Else Barfi will be a lame attempt.

Rockstar : The forte of the film again goes to the Characterisation of Jordan. As you have mentioned Ranbir quite naturally shows the transformation. Story as such does not have much to capture your attention, but the romance is so dense. Beleive me its not like "walking-in-the-rain-behind-the-heroine" or jumping-in-the-air (again in slow-mo)-with-two-hands-stretched". Its so mature that towards to the end its turns out a bit heavy, which itself becomes a downside for the film amoung "came-to-see-jumping-around-trees" audiences. And ARR was in total form. Unfortunately neither the songs nor the movie could sustain the interest of a regular movie goer. I liked the movie along with its quite efficient naration and some mind blowing music and visuals. But will not recomend it to general audience. As you have liked Barfi, give Rockstar a try, but as a stand-alone movie during the week-end ... LoL

+1 for all points. Well made thriller. And yeah, it is a inspired by 'The Talented Mr.Ripley' starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.

oh! I did not pay much attention. Isn't 'The Talented Mr.Ripley' something to do with inheriting a fortune (I remember it vaguely) ? I will try to rent it this evening.

revisited rockstar last week...
watta movie...
the characters, the performance, the non-linear style... everything works...
ranvir is brilliant... the hard work he has put in using the guitars and lipsync'ing to the songs etc., shows... nallaa varuvaan...
apart from ranvir's transformation throughout various stages, the music too transforms into forms all along... the way the katiya kare is used in various stages is an example...
periya reward kedachirukkanum...
best of ARR this decade for me... never seen a musical movie of this intense before...

was very impressed with the dialogues mainly... the tamil is exactly as spoken by the ppl in bangalore... no movie has captured this so well before...

Barfi is one beautiful movie. Ranbir and Priyanka lived up through the characters. The climax scenes though copied from Notebook suited very well to the plot. What a mindblowing performances from lead characters! Cinemotography is par excellence. It sets up the mood and tone and it travels through these disabled personalities.

As mappi said, comparing MP with Barfi does not make sense. MP narrates more on one sided love. Here both are innocent. If we want to compare, then ithu oru kaathal kathai - barfi combination is valid.

barfi... again ranvir was brilliant...
but priyanka, a bit overdid... only a bit...
welcome movie from bollywood though!

I liked it too. Minister asking the policeman - "Innum enga baashai katthukkalaiya", PG culture etc. The creators have done their homework :thumbsup:

& after listening to all these gana singers.. gana ulaganathan, gana bala [in uthayam nh4] .. i feel Sabesh & Deva are the best.. no one can beat them in this..

Udhayam NH4 was more Ghilli in Kannada. Didn't understand the hype surrounding the movie. Dialogues were unclear at places and moreover, this Siddarth seems to be pulling a Suriya in giving performances. His attempt at pulling off a "tamil-medium" student is unconvincing. GVP songs are ok. One-time watch.

Yeah the story and plot are exactly the same in both movies but I like Naan too. There are some minor differences though. In TTMR, Jude Law and Matt Damon are shown to have a gay relationship but in Naan they are just room mates. The change of religion is not there in the original and Matt Damon is shown as a weird guy who stammers.

The Cinemotogrpher Ravi Varman was Kamal's favourite, worked with him for Vettaiyadu vilayadu and Dasa...
