FOr long I thought it was a curiosity restricted to my school/area etc. I was proved wrong when I watched the movie where Sathyarah comes as the old dada who falls in louu with a college girl. The heroine's boyfriend teases her about it and she complains: "nee kooda andha aaLOda ennai 'compare' panra"

I was like WTH !!! Now don't tell me that expression has managed to enter popular lingo now !!

Yes! I don't find it absurd if Present generation rejects Thangavelu against Vivek,Vadivelu,Gounder ..because they have achived more than what thangavelu achived during his era ..But Premji (You already said clearly how worthy he is ) win over Thangavelu .. That i feel it is far from something i can digest. :sigh2:

Not that I rate Thangavelu as greatest ,But giving so much credit to some undeserved one and rejecting a geniune artist is absurd.

Thangavelu is one of the best we have had and one of the very few comedians who evoke laughter even in this era.

viv, joe: understand the sentiments(aanalum periya sentiment semmalu-nu oruthar ullara irundhu koovarar :-) ). But the thing is let's eliminate these premjis etc. Let's consider the main comedian list: as I said, it has to be thangavelu or VV or Vivek or GM or Chandrababu or Nagesh - indha list-la en feeling is Thangavelu will come last as a humourist. This is important distinction because a person winning this poll should be worthy and the net conclusion is among the main comedians, this person is the unfunny one. This doesnt mean that he is unfunnier than muthukalai, premji, pandu, omakuchi etc. If you can digest that and pit TV against Nagesh, CB, VV, Vivek and GM, then you can see where we are coming from

This is the direction I think is the right way to go in this thread - indha minor comedians-laam kondu vandhu distract pandrangappa!
