watched the second off yesterday...
the thunithuvakkira scene was  thalaivar chairla ukkaandhu kaalmela kaalpOttukittu veesi veesi thovakkira style... obviously idhulaama director sollitharuvaanga... and his funny expressions throughout the length of the scene during his conversation with senthaamarai.. hilarious... loved this movie, better than jaani... the simple rajini... miss u.
Panju Arunachalam mentioned about this film on Manathodu Mano. Raaja was not well when he composed the songs of this film. Just had his hernia surgery done and was taking rest. But he did compose at home without going to the studio even once. Wrote the notes for singers/instrumentalists and sent it to them. And he did finish composing in 3 days!!
Figures why we there was a re-use (en vaazhvilE). But kaadhalin deepam onRu sitting at home
 Missed the episode.
naamaLum appappo dhaan work from home paNROm..
techsadhees record panni vechiruppaar. Must watch.
After AnnakkiLi people started saying iLaiyaraajakku folk mattum dhaan varum.
Panju made kavikkuyil to show maplai's classical music talend.
And to showcase his WCM brilliance produced Priya.
Both thalaivar films, so relevant to this thread
Great News - Mirchi Siva to play SS in Thillu Mullu remake :cry2: :banghead:
this must be a joke... i am damn sure.
Not bad. Thillu Mullu isn't dependent on Rajini as much as other movies of his. Equar already told ding sabha drama. Mirchi Siva can very much update it within current TF SundarC comedy range. adhaiyum "pOna vaaram vandhudhE andha padathukku idhu thEvalai"nu makkaL pArkka readyA irupPAnga.
Another flavor in thaLapathi. Only scene in which he wears the Guru Sishyan / TEU shoes:
G: aamaa surya andha subbulakshmi yaaru?
M: ennadhu subbulakshmiyaa?
R: a. aah(n).. subbulakshmiyaa yaaradhu?
G: illai naan kELvippattEn..
R: ohhhho. andha subbulakshmiyaa adhaan deva namma Pandiyan illai.. PandiyanOda paatti
..
M: unakku pudichirukkaa?
R: nee chummaa saappidu deva avunga solraangannu nee vERa :-) :-)
M: pudichirukkaa illaiaya?
G: moonji paarthaalE theriyala?
R: aamaa moonji paarththaa therinjidum.. ayyO naan vaREn   :-)
Massaging the old lady. Can't remember actual dialogue, but he'd be massaging her, and she'd go, "ithellAm thevaiyA" (on his new friendship), and he stops massaging (dialogue marantuttEn).
ada idha sollala da...
Not sure, if any one has talked about "Naan Adimai illai". I really liked this movie, even though it was not a typical RK movie! Songs were awesome. Probably the only tamil movie in which she looked this beautiful ( I guess this was after her nose job). This was one of my fav song.

Whattey Song!
On KTV, no?
I thought the scene where he laughs after the fiasco with the ingrate brother very NT-ish, I think I get the point that he seems more natural in NT genre.
Yes.. and i quit after the song the court scenes *jokes* etc unwatchable. Now varumayin niram sigappu
On the contrary, very very watchable because of Rajini. Every scene he is in, sparks fly. Always thought NT was a tad too old to be his brother, but then I think about Kamal's family.
K_G, that's definitely NT-ish.
Didn't any one like "Naan Adimai illai" ?
Sorry Raghu, you are on your own. I watched it when I was a kid, but I was on the opposite camp then. Some bad taste still in the mouth, athanAle, I didn't make any attempt to watch it after I became Rajini admirer.
Oh ok :)
Ennagayyaa idhu, padikkathavan barely watchable aa? nallaaththaanyaa irukkum. Kadesila konjam senti but not bad at all.
indha rajasekara modha oru full cover pannanum...
was very impressed with teo...
I really don't know because I remember liking it a lot during its initial release and probably I watched again with same expectations. But RK was top notch and there was no doubt about it. Anyway I just told my feeling and everyone may not agree with it. But Thambikku Endha Ooru aged well and was a good watch even now.
for me Padikkathavan is like Annamalai of 80's..
it has everything for Rajini..
action+comedy+senti+acting
Both got Lakshmi too..
I wonder whether Animal welfare board would let him rip Lakshmi in Annamalai like a mad man, like in Illiterate Man.
Rajasekar did TEO. SPM did neRRIkaNN. GNR did Meendum Kokila. 80s - Kamal, Rajini when used even to 50% of their potential ended up with decent-to-great movies. Directors - apple juice fellers. Project managers. Dont try to give too much credit to them.(Note to feeyar: self-flagellation, I must have been born British)
Rajasekar also did Vikram and Maaveran. More up his alley I suppose. Doesnt TEO stick out in his resume? That too, the second half isnt much to write home about.
who is Rajashekar?
is there any pic of him?
is he the Rajashekar of "robert-rajashekar" duo?
is he the one of the lead actor in NizhalgaL?
Certainly you can see Rajasekar having a better control over his films than KSR. Especially KSR-Rajini films, where series of accidental moments which channels RAjinism well cached on for the audience, but is so dumb on revisits.
You can't say he's all Apple Juice. Even Vikram, Kakki Sattai 'was' compelling to watch. But I respect Flu trashing them, he has gold standards.
he was on fire in padikkathavan..
this scene.. ROTFL esque.

app, teo more than masala'va... that is another category'nga... certainly not anywhere close to masala.
This is a different Rajasekar. Rajini's friend. He died soon after Dharmadurai released. Leftmost in this apple juice pic -

Came across this poster made by the LIC unit for Dharmadurai 175 days. Interesting tidbit about Thalapathi at the bottom of this poster.
