I hope they take another 4-5 decades for their next win.

Tendulkar not playing the first two matches due to the tennis elbow injury didnt help much either. Enakku idhula sollikolla oru sandhosham ennanna thalaivar illadha appo series jeichutanuga . He only came back in the 3rd test but it was too late. Andha side Ponting velayadalainnu sollalam but he was never a factor in India.
P.S: Thalaivar's 55 in the 4th test 2nd Innings at wankhede was a very crucial knock. Idhellam 4th innings knocks aa theriadhu punditskku.
The green pitch was a result of BCCI politics.
From CF,
Ganguly pulled out of the match just before toss, because of this.Quote:
Its widely known that then Vidarbha Cricket Association President Shashank Manohar asked the curator Kishore Pradhan to prepare a green-top pitch to teach the Indian/BCCI/Dalmia cricket team a lesson and make it likely that India would lose the series. Sashank Manohar was then involved in a bitter electoral war with Dalmia.
P.S: This post by another CF member throws more light into the issue.
IIRC, they prepared a grassy pitch just to please other international cricket boards. This was critisized heavily then. Also, there was a speculation that Ganguly and Harbhajan pulled out of the match at the last minute after seeing this grassy pitch.
For the last match, they prepared a 90' turner in Mumbai. Clarke best bowling figures anga than..

LM, One more query
Wasn't this on the air that when the Indian team toured australia in 1999-00, some BCCI Official commented that the team would lose 3-0 even before the test matches started?.
That was JY Lele, a famous BCCI comedian.
Nagpur 2004: Manohar and gang who were against Dalmia wanted to derail India and got a green pitch prepared. Ganguly (had a back problem so skipped the match) or (saw the grass and opted out due to fear - Chappell brothers' version). adhAvadhu adhukku munnAdi avar grassy pitchla veLayAndadhE illaiyAm. adhai pArthavuNE quarter adichuttu kavundhuttArAm.
But that is ok - we got favourable pitches in South Africa in the 2006 tour(we registered our first win there) and even Australia in 2004 and 2008 had neutered pitches which helped us.
That can happen to a home team. But the Chennai test loss was a total robbery by destiny. That is what made the series loss unpalatable.
All i can seriously hope is for Tendulkar not having to associate to anything even remotely with BCCI when he decides to retire. It's such a shitehouse.
We could have had our first test series win in Australia as early as 1986. We drew 0-0. As usual, rain robbed us of a win in the final match although diffident scoring rates (of the order of Sub 2.0 run rate could be blamed too - but then that was the general rate of scoring). Also, a few home favouring umpiring decisions by Aussie umpires as usual.
Most famously Srikkanth, Gavaskar and Amarnath scored centuries from #1, #2 and #3 in the Sydney test. Srikkanth who probably scored at a rate of S/R 50 was considered too dashing and dynamic for that era :-)
Ofcourse, did I mention it was a post-golden-era emaciated Aussie team reeling from the loss of Chappell Jr, Rod Marsh and Lillee at a single stroke?
In 1979, we lost 2-3. That was to a Packer-demaciated Aussie team led by Bobby Simpson at 45 years of age. Should have won that one too.
In 1983, Kapil Dev, the Dhoni before Dhoni, inspired us to a famous win but still no Cigar
BTW, this was your favourite Waugh's debut :-)Quote:

What happened wa: India needed 126 to win in almost 2 sessions. They crawled to 59/2 by tea and were done in by the weather.
In other matche sin the serries also, they lost time to bad light which was controversial(although Wisden and co deftly avoid mention) in that it was seen to favour Australia who were in trouble rather than genuine case of bad light

Even that 2-3 loss was probably not exactly 1979. Maybe 77 or 78

It has almost all the hi-lights of Border Gavaskar trophy 2007/08 in Australia.

good video master  still remember the four he hit on 0:58.. it was hit really hard that Rhodes let it go though it was so close to him.. this final was a re-match actually.. the actual match was rained out but play was possible for some time.. he was in some kind of form blasting Klusener on that day.. but eventually, he was caught in point by Rhodes. It was one of the best catches of all time though the replays showed that Rhodes grounded the ball when completing the catch...

Excellent video that RR. Great(Ethana matchkku sollaradhu) knock from tendulkar. If only he had batted for another 5-6 overs we would have won that game. I think in this match only allan donald abuses dravid and dravid walks away.
SS, you fail :poke:
