mani's movie set in the sea backdrop with karthiks son being the lead and donowho being the heroine...
Kadal is the next movie of mani which stars yester year actors' Karthik and Radha's kids. Cinematography by Rajiv Menon. Already 3,4 songs recorded. May release by the end of the year. How did you miss all this news in spite of visiting hub daily? Something fishy.. :)
ok... fine.. not daily :P often! :)
I remember hearing about this sometime ago. But nothing about MR or anything solid about it. It seems a very hush hush movie...
Mani Rathnam loves using massive beds of water in his movies doesn't he?
oh that ko-girl... nooooo
Not Ko girl but her sister.
thats some relief ajay... thanks... i am confident that there is balance in this world..
May be Ambika's daughters strike the balance, who knows?

Two decades of Rahman's magic
The Mozart of Madras, A.R.Rahman, recently completed a major landmark in his remarkable journey. It has been 20 years since this prodigiously talented composer entered the film industry with the evergreen Roja.
He has formed amazing combinations with many directors like Mani Ratnam, Shankar, Ashutosh Gowariker to name a few. His exploits are not just restricted to the Indian film industry as he is the much celebrated Academy Award winner as well.
He has won two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, thirteen Filmfare Awards South and many many more. A true living legend and a fine human being.
We wish his journey crosses many more landmarks. He is currently busy with Mariyaan, Kadal, I, Raanjhnaa and Yohan.

Questions of a Rahmaniac - Questions no one ask AR Rahman
http://www.backgroundscore.com/2012/...rahmaniac.html
Wish ARR answers all these. Many of the fellow Rahmaniacs would have the same questions in their mind for sure. Just like you, I also have a problem with this over the top layering in some recent ARR numbers and I too felt if it has become a kinda burden on his shoulders. Old classics like 'Kadhal Rojave' or 'Nenje Nenje' had minimal layering and how sweet they still are.

Great art work!
Is that why you and Maniratnam together wrote Veera song in Raavanan and not Vairamuthu? I heard/ read (cant remember where) that MR needed the song soon and Vairamuthu was not available. So MR didn't wait for Vairamuthu but instead decided to write the lyrics himself...

thats tough task sunil...
i tried but gave up when i came to 93, 94, etc... there are a truckload of masterpieces in those years and its not easy to pick one though nobody is gonna question our choice... something makes me feel like i am ditching the other songs while i choose one...
there is a movie mentioned in wiki - 'Bombil and Beatrice'
any idea anybody?
Whilst making the list I knew I had to be adamant, even if it meant that I equally enjoyed the songs. The motive with which I made the list was related to how much impact did the song have on me as a first impression. Hence, the list. I personally was stuck whilst deciding during 1999 and 2000... Whopping number of releases  I was going to give a list of songs I considered but in words of Lethal Bizzle, I thought, "Leave it yeah!"
I don't think this movie had a mainstream release and Rahman Ji was only involved in the BGM (don't think the film had songs)
You can catch various trailers of this movie on Youtube but some of them have music from "Warriors of heaven and earth"
If you haven't already then please hear the music in this http://youtube.com/watch?v=vk0trWFi2cI seems like the original score :D
oh thanks sunil...
never seen it discussed in the hub... saamikuttham
Advance wishes to Annan on completing 20 years of musical excellence. Exactly 20 years ago, Sirappu Oliyum Oliyum in DD 5 changed my life.

THE WHOLE CONCEPT ON HOW A R RAHMAN COMPOSES A TUNE
 for all the Technical & Musical Contribution of a Man who made new blood flow into the Whole Country's Music!
Something about the Technology Rahman introduced in Music :-
Rahman is the 1st MD who successfully pressed the Digital Button in Music, be it Filmi/non-Filmi. Like how lord Rama touched a Stone and It became Agalihai, similarly, once Rahman pressed the Digital button, the Electronic Music became an Industry Standard. Only real talents can change an whole industry, If all the technology he brought in, went to a MD who don't know technology, it would have set bad example! As the above blog said, Rahman is the great Sound Engineer of all the times. (This is not any pun intended, am truly saying the fact which everyoone knows, he pioneered the technology )
He is a great MD in making a composition look sophisticated, on its face! Not within, or deep, just on the face of the composition itself, his songs will look complex! Thats not an easy task, looking at anyways.
His efforts to encourage youngsters and offer them new possibilities to learn music is something very special! The KM Conservatory is an laudable effort of Rahman and in future, I hope talents coming out of that Music School! Also if one remembers, the Old Composing Contest happened on Sun TV, under his supervision, he assisted the winning teams to come up with their own album and recently it got launched too! -> http://videos.oneindia.in/watch/1176...-la-album.html
He is a smart composer and I strongly feel that somehow, he will stay in limelight for long time! Coming to his recent works, all i expect is, his future works shud be trendsetting/path-breaking and also very importantly, I somewhat miss the aura and excitement one gets during 90s whenever each and every of his album releases! That shud happen again! He has won almost all great awards and I expect he establishes new and un-imaginable benchmarks and he himself exceeds them!
