I should thank you for this thread. Since I started posting in this thread, I've been in contact with my cousins(around 30 of us :D ) to remind me of our granny's sayings. And everyday I get some quotes from them and also the incidents when they were said. It brings back old memories for all of us and all my cousins send their thanks to you.

Yes, I share your great love for our rich Tamil proverbs. My maternal grandmother was s torehouse of them. All her 'vasavu' came in the form of proverbs. All her vasavu were well meant and proved manure for us- the tilled land.Quote:

My native is a coastal village in Tuticorin district(erstwhile Tirunelveli district). But my parents and grandparents lived in Sri Lanka for quite long.
