அண்மையில் ஒரு சுவையான தகவல் கேள்விப்பட்டேன். பராசக்தி படத்தில் " கா! கா! கா! பாடல் படமாக்கப்படும் போது நடந்த நிகழ்வு. இந்த காட்சிக்கு காக்கைகள் தேவைப்பட்டன. அவை ஒரு ஷாட்-ல் மட்டும் இருந்தால் போதாது. பாடல் முழுக்க அவை வர வேண்டும். அப்படி நினைத்த நேரத்தில் எல்லாம் காக்கைகள் வருமா என்ன? என்ன செய்வது என்று யோசித்த போது இயக்குனர் கிருஷ்ணன் (பஞ்சு) அவர்களின் தம்பியும் பராசக்தி படத்திற்கு அசிஸ்டன்ட்டாகவும் வேலை செய்த பட்டு (இவர் பின்னாளில் ஜெய்சங்கரை வைத்து படங்கள் இயக்கியுள்ளார்) ஒரு யோசனை சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். நிறைய மசால் வடைகளை வாங்கி வைத்து கொண்டு காக்கைகள் தேவைப்படும் போது பிய்த்து போட்டு கா! கா! என்று கூப்பிடுவார்களாம். காக்கைகள் வடையை பார்த்து விட்டு வரும். அப்போது தேவைப்படும் ஷாட்கள் எடுத்து கொண்டார்களாம்.

Saw 25 minutes of Pesum Deivam in Podhigai (Kadhai Kadhaiyam kaaranamaam). It was simply superb.
Especially the scene(s) where NT decides to take the young child to his niece's marriage. The action - reaction enacted by NT and Padmini, very natural dialogues (surprise - KSG) and the way NT casually does it. Hats off. Added attraction is he looking so smart.
Ranga Rao, Sundari Bhai (as grand parents), Sahasranamam as the Brother - In- Law were again spot on. Sathyan (wow) and Sowcar add lustre.
That 25 minutes has kindled the urge (interestingly the portion covered today had no songs) to see the movie again (Though I have seen it many times, it was long back). Must search for DVD.

அதற்கு முந்தைய ஆண்டிலிருந்து அவர் இளைக்க துவங்கியிருந்த காலம். அத்துடன் சொந்தமுடியில், அட்டகாசமான HAIR STYLE நம்மைக்கவரும்.
ஒவ்வொரு விஷயமாக சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பத்மினியிடம் வெறுத்துப்போய் அவர் கோட்டை கழற்றி வீசும் இடம் 'Made for each other' என்று சொல்ல வைக்கும்.
பாடல்கள் அத்தனையும் அருமை. அதற்கு முதல்நாள் எபிசோட்டில் 'நான் அனுப்புவது கடிதம் அல்ல' பாடலையும், 'அழகு தெய்வம் மெல்ல மெல்ல அடியெடுத்து வைத்ததோ' பாடலையும், அத்துடன் நடிகர்திலகம், பத்மினி, நாகேஷ் சம்மந்தப்பட்ட நகைச்சுவைக்காட்சியையும் காண்பித்தார்கள். இவை போக 'பத்து மாதம் சுமக்கவில்லை செல்லையா', 'நூறாண்டு காலம் வாழ்க', 'இதய ஊஞ்சல் ஆடவா' போன்ற அருமையான பாடல்களும் இப்படத்தில் உண்டு.

There are a lot many things that can be said about the magnum opus TM. The director had the guts of making a movie in those days with no duet songs, no fight sequences for the hero and of course NT had the guts of accepting the movie just for the sake of acting in a different variety of role and the rest is history.
Though "TM" is hailed as a landmark movie mainly because of NT's powerful performance, due credit has to be given to the director also. APN had concentrated even on small nuances in that movie. for example, watch the "Thillana" contest scene between NT and Padmini. TRR would be seated among the audience. But still he would be flirting his hands in air whenever the "mridangam" is played in the background [being a "mridamgam" vidwan he just could not stop doing that, just as Balaiah does during the "maraindhirundhu paarkum" song sequence]. There are many such finer points to be cherished in that movie.
The director and the hero had immense guts in including a scene which depicts the hero in a poor light i.e. a narrow minded person. Recall the hospital scene where NT suspects the movements of the staff nurse, who gives him a towel-bath and tells her to behave properly. She retards him telling that she was just doing that at the behest of her father who was a piano master and he told her to take care of "sikkalar" as if she is taking care of her father. In the end she admonishes him "yeyya, ungalukka nadaswaram vasikka mattumdhan theriyuma?". At this point NT holds her hands and tells "idhu un kai illa, kaalu, yenna mannichudu". I am sure no other hero would agree for such a scene.
The other background informations are:
1. Recall the scene where NT's troupe arrives at Balaji's mansion for playing nadaswaram. Nagesh's performance in this scene would be superb.
Nagesh to Balaiah: "maine summa irukkaan, side nee yennada?" [it is reported balaiah enjoyed this bit from Nagesh, which was his original]
Balaji to Nagesh: "neer dhan andha nadaswara ghoshtiya thadthu nirithanum"
Nagesh to balaji: "neera? yenna naar naara kilichuduvaanunga anna"
After such dialogues nagesh also dances to the western music played by of NT's troupe.
Now the background information is that just before the commencement of the shooting of this scene came the news that police had arrived at the residence of Nagesh to arrest his wife in connection with a murder case. Though the director and NT offered to cancel the shooting Nagesh left the place only after completing his scenes. He is the ACTOR!!!
Another background information is that NT and Balaiah were not in talking terms during the making of the film but one can not make out that in the movie. They are THE ACTORS!!!
