PERFORMANCE:
There is not much story in this movie it mainly depends on Rajin’s Star power and fights .
Thalivar is the main back bone of the movie as Paayum Puli he is superb ( Watchout for scene in interval block fight between Jai & Rajini)
Thyagarajan as Villan’s son plays a crucial role
R.N. Sudharsan is the main villan is apt
Silk SMitha plays a club dancer who loves Rajini and helps him in the last
Jai Shankar who initially hates Rajini becomes his friend & helps him
Manorama speaks Srilankan Tamil and Janakaraj plays henpecked husband, VKR, Rajini(Female) provides comic relief

It was third movie for AVM with Thalaivar
The movie celebrated 100 days completing hatrick in AVM, SPM & Thalaivar combo
Initially Vijaykanth was asked for a villan role but he refused. Karate RVT Mani agreed to play Villan role but backed out last minute as he cited the reason that he was a martial trainer though this is a movie and the movie would be like Hero(Rajini) winning over villan(himself) he does not like it
SO the producers and SPM found it difficult to find a villan for this movie. They even asked for writer Panchu Arunachalam but he backed out
It was at that time Jaishankar himself dropped at AVM office and asked what are you going to do when Karate mani has refused the movie ( They were not astonished as Jai sir had very good contacts all over the industry because of his friendly nature). He accepted the viilan role thereby making it second movie in Combo of AVM, Rajini & SPM literally the same team
New type of weapons were designed for this action movie.
The martial arts school scenes were picturised in Love Dale school Ooty
Balaji challenged that it is impossible to assemble all artistes in early morning 5 0 clock (Only Devar films can do that) But SPM made sure all artistes including Balaji, Jai, YGM, Rajini took part in the early morning schedule . Balaji appreciated SPM’s diligence .
The song Pothukutu Othutadi vanam was highly appreciated . Reason for all rain songs the camera would be in middle but in this song Camera would be on top thereby making the rainfall authentic credits to Cameraman Babu.
During the song of another hit song: Adi Masam Kathadeka Silk SMitha was making mistakes in dance steps. Some people made fun of it Enraged silk smitha pushed them in swimming pool. Rajini called her and consoled her and advised her a lot to be calm
The climax scene was a direct rip off from an James bond movie
It was during the climax scene where Radha & Silk has to stand in a winch/ lift .
Radha was initially terrified to stand in so much height but Silk Smitha was so daring that she did not mind that one part of hook of lift was broken and managed in that scene
Satyaraj appears in a fight in this movie
The re recording was fabulous particularly the title score & Interval block fights BGM
FINAL VERDICT:
A nice action movie with good fights. Though there is no great story screenplay was so good that makes you forget all the loopholes

PLOT:
Rajini is a do gooder but Rowdy released from jail. Radhika comes to his house and stays with her. Rajini finds her house and sends her back to her relatives but when he comes to know that she is tortured he marries her and together they start a new life. They are helped by Major who helps them to secure a job in visu’s factory.
But Visu’s factory is in critical position in verge of lock out but Rajini gives assurance to financiers and settles the dues. Rajini settles the dues when Visu is in death bed he handovers the factory & urges to be a guardian to his family.( Visu’s wife is Y Vijaya, relatives are Radhika’s relatives VKR and his son are distant relatives of Y Vijaya. Y. Vijaya’s son is Karthik)
INTERVAL
The movie begins its second half in a bunglow. Rajini is the MD of the factory, his assistant is YGM. The factory’s safety officer is Retrd. Police officer Major , Rajini leads a happy life with his wife and only daughter (Thulasi). But Karthik, VKR hatches a plan and Karthik loves THulasi. She too reciprocates him. Meanwhile Rajini without knowing all this approves his daughter’s choice of groom but he is against it when he comes to know that KAthick is his daughter’s lover.
But the couple marries
What happens next is climax
PERFORMANCE:
As the previous Payum puli was criticized for not having much story this movie was very good in terms of story and showed a two different shades of Rajini as a rowdy in first half and aristrocrat in second half nice character role.
Radhika also got a meaty role that of a wife who reforms her husband , author backed role she delivers her best
Villan VKR is weak in his portrayal no acting scope for veteran
Karthik & Thulasi is other pair. KArthik is a part villan and looks good in confrontation scenes with Rajini
Major, Visu also gives a dignified portrayal

This fim is a telugu remake and it was later made in Kannada as Jeevana Chakra starring Vishnuvardhan and Raadhika.
The song Vechukava was shot differently with dancers having colour bulbs in dresses. The dance in Mumbai would cry as the bulbs would give electric shocks but Rajini never showed any sign of discomfort
The climax scene originally would end with Rajini walking away with his wife’s photo but producers wihed a commercial ending so the climax fight was shot
Kartick was initially apprehensive about villan role but director and producers assured him that they would make a film with Karthik as hero and Nalla thambi movie was made
Rajini received Cinema rasigan award & Film fare award in year 1985 for this movie

Nalavanuku nallavan is a prequel to Annamalai.....Both the movies are very entertaining....all the songs in the movie are good.... There's a scene where visu asks rajini do ypu kmow our superstar who was a bus conductor and become a superstar something like that....

PLOT:
Bharath (Rajnikanth) a young man who is unknown who is his father. Shanti (Sharada) mother of Bharath tells him about his father at her deathbed.
Gopinath (Sathyaraj) is a rich young man,who comes for Paapampatti village for his construction work. He sees Shanti an innocent village girl and tries to impress her by pretending innocent. She trusts him fully and allows to him cross the ultimate limit. Gopinath leaves the village promising that he would return soon to marry her. Shanti finds that she is pregnant and also hears that Gopinath is about to get married to another woman. She visits Gopinath but he insults her badly. Shanti challenges him saying that one day her son will question him and make him confess the truth about himself to whole world and leaves the place. Shanti requests Bharath to fulfill her challenge and dies. Bharath accepts the challenge of making Gopinath to confess the truth by next year August 31 the death day of his mother.
Bharath leaves for the city and finds out his father. He meets Gopinath as a some strange man and uses Gopinath's money to start his own venture in the construction field. Both Bharath and Gopinath become enemies and both of them try to overtake each other in illegitimate way.
In between Ambika( Gopinath’s secretary ) and Rajini loves each other.
SV Sekar ( Rajini’s half brother ) loves Viji, Goundamani’s sister. Goundamani is the dear friend of Rajini and helps him to achieve his goals.
Bharath once helps a girl from goons and takes her home and finds that the girl is Pushpa, daughter of Gopinath and is his sister. Bharath wins the affection of Mrs.Gopinath as her son.
He arranges for marriage of Pushpa with the son of a wealthy man Kumeresa Gounder who helps him to fulfill the challenge which he have against Gopinath. Bharath also uses the love relationship between his brother and his friend's sister to corner Gopinath. Bharath uses every possible ways to blackmail and torture Gopinath to make him realise his mistake but Gopinath does not reciprocate instead becomes more anger.
Bharath invites him to inaugurate his orphanage on August 31, the date when he planned to fulfill his mother's wish. Gopinath is very anger on Bharath and hires a local goon who once was his enemy and now to Bharath to kill him in the inaugural function. Bharath reveals his mother's identity in the function and waits for Gopinath to accept his mistake.
Did Gopinath recognized who is Bharath and did he accept him as his son forms the rest of the story.
PERFORMANCE:
This movie is a treat to watch for Rajini fans, Rajini ‘s style of action is impeccable in this movie. He dons different get ups like Mandavelli Mannaru, Kumaresa Gounder
Sathyaraj is the villan plays a role of dignified father the scenes involving both Rajini & Sathyaraj are treat to watch.
Another Villan Raghuvaran is used for fights
Goundamani does not have a comedy track but used along with the story to help it move forward
Visu as Kumaresa gounder helps Rajini nice portrayal
SV Sekar, Viji, Vadivukuarasi etc complete the cast

The song kathiranthu Kathava thorandhu was picturised well like items in refrigerator appearing large and lead pair dancing in it was well appreciated . It was done by Ravikanth Nickyasch . He is from Bombay and is a specialist in trick shots . His earlier works were in Mgr’s Oliviakku( Many MGRs were shown in single frame) Pathanathil Bhootam ( Nice trick shots all over the movie)
Sathyaraj who appeared in small role in AVm’s Payum puli was given a life time role like a second hero
SV Sekar & Sathyaraj commented that this movie is not a remake of Trishul but Ek shool as major importance were given to Thalaivar.
The village scenes were shot in former minister Manradiyar’s village. Production Manager & SPm were given a car and driver to see the locations of Manradiyar’s farm. After roaming for 2 days in car they asked “ How long will it take to see this farm?” The driver replied if we see the locations like this for a week we can almost cover the farm” .
The superb song Enama kannu was hot in Guindy Race course .
Actor Raguvaran was a budding actor those times and would come to sets by 6 O clock even though his hots would be from 9 O clock to learn the techniques of shooting

Vinu Chakravarthy & Cho provide certain comic relief based on satire on politics

Initally Rajini was against the song Kaala Kaala as it was self boasting himself but SPM convinced him. The song was asked for Once more in theatres.
Sengal Sulai was also used as location to shoot climax. Saravanan who saw the climax suggested for betterment . But the movie was completed and Rajini was in Banglore in Blood stone shooting , when SPM revealed the matter, he came back on Sunday and shot for the scenes.
The climax was well received
It was during the shoot of climax i.e. when cars were crashing each other a fighter injured and lost his 3 fingers.
Manithan Manithan song was not in the movie initially . When Rajini was taking bath in AVM he heard that song and he requested to use this song as it was superb and montage shots like Rajini wearing a hat, walking, anger mannerisims were used.
The movie hundredth day was celebrated by AVM in presence of Badrinath of Sankara Nethrayala , Rajini and his family donated their eyes prompting their fans to donate their eyes. Some fans wrote letters to donate their single eyes even when they were alive.
This film was released along with Nayagan and was panned by critics but it celebrated 125 days

PLOT:
An aspiring actor Raja (Rajinikanth) and Chinni Jayanth comes from a village As he searching for a place in the dream factory, he falls for the daughter of the house owner, Gautami. Charmed by his looks and character, the girl (Gowthami) also falls for him.
One day he accidentally meet his childhood friend Raghu (Raghuvaran) who is a spoiled rich guy. He offers Raja an acting job, then takes him to his uncle's house, to persuade him to act as Kumarappa BA., caretaker of the house of Businessman Ravichandran.
Raja pretends as Kumarappa and is entrusted with the administration of the household and take care of five children (Raghu's nieces and nephews) each of whom have issues (such as being lazy, not studying etc.). The only good child in the house is Baby Shalini.
Rajini and Baby Shalini corrects the children. Now Rajini with the help of Children reforms the servants and sets rights the house.
Raja finds out that Raghu is cheating his uncle out of funds and using him to do the same. Meanwhile the eldest among the children ( Ragavi) is addicted to drugs. The drug mafia is headed by none other than Raghuvaran & his group( Kitty, Azhagu). Ravichandran is accused of running a drug factory
How Rajini tackles these problems is the rest of the movie.
PERFORMANCE:
Rajini , is a delight to watch in this movie as a innocent, simple village guy. It is refreshing to see Rajini without any problems like reforming the society and other problems. When a movie is to be made for kids the hero must be liked by everyone its none other than Rajini. He is a treat to watch along with Chinni Jayanth, when he indulges in pranks with Gautami thinking his boss as blind.
Gautami is the heroine in this movie and plays a nurse role with dignity and helps Rajini in his mission
Villan is Raghuvaran . His role is friend turned into a foe. Raguvaran is always superb .
Out of 5 children Baby Shalini, small girl, Ragavi are given nice scope and they make use of it
VKR, Jai Ganesh impresses in guest appearance.
Special mention for Chinni for his HAAAAAAAAAAAm tone always evokes laughter
SS. Chandran, Kovai Sarala manages to evoke laughter
Ravichandran too gives a dignified portrayal

It is the seventh movie for AVM with Thalaivar
The movie ran for more than 100 days
The movie completed some 200 houseful shows even matinee , in Chennai
The idea of making this movie was given by AVM Saravanan who said that Children likes Rajini very much ,why can’t a movie with Rajini & kids be made. Panchu chirped in with a nice story, screenplay underlying aspects of respecting elders, honesty, no bad habits, drug pedaling.
Usually this sort of story will be made as art movie but this was a commercial success with a strong message.
Music director Chandrabose’s songs were hit especially Super Staru, Raja Chinna Roja, Poo Poo Pol, Oru Panbadu. All the songs were hit
Vairamuthu lyrics were well received in this movie.
The song Super Staru became a rage in that time. The colour bombs were done by Hem Nag. The song , climax sequences were shot in ooty.
Rajini was not dancing properly for the song Super Staru . Dance master Puliyur Saroja was asking for retakes which tensioned SPM who said pl adjust with his dance steps as Rajini’s shoulder is dislocated.
But Rajini never said anything and completed the song as per dance master’s requirement
The animation/ cartoon scene song was well appreciated.
The animation drawings comprises of 80,000 drawings. The painter was Ram Mohan from Mumbai. SPM first met him on the evening of Poojai , in evening and gae the idea for the song. Ram mohan was impressed by the way AVM, SPM approached him( Usually directors, producers would pressurize him to finish his work within 10 days). But for this movie he was given 3 months time. The song was first shot and sent to Mumbai. The song was shot under supervision of Ram Mohan Assistant. Actors should imagine that they are tying a cloth in monkey’s tail and tie the cloth in air, Rajini has to act as if he is treating an elephant. All the actors did a splendid job with nice co ordination. It was first time in Indian Cinema to use cartoon with real life characters .
Master sundar appeared as Kamal’s friend in Sathya movie and many other movies
Ragavi appeared in once more movie and is currently doing serials.
The movie celebrated it success meet and TV was given to child artistes. Rajini too asked for a TV ( just for fun) but AVM Saravanan sent home the same type of TV.
Azhagu , a good fighter in senthoorapoove and other movies was initially roped in for a tough fight with Thalaivar. But Rajini suggested you do karate , I will hit you on you head and you must fall. It evoked instant laughter from audience and was well appreciated(Thalaivar always gauges the Pulse of audiences correctly)
AS you all know Chinni is ardent fan of Rajini ,Chinni ‘s comedy Haaaaaam was not as per script but accidently he did it which was liked by Rajini & was incorporated by Rajini .
