Puthandu Valthukal to all frens in Kugan"s Kitchen......
Greetings to all our friends for Tamizh Puthandu and Vishu!
K, the cup cake liners I find here are too thin... not sure if it'll hold shape if not place in the cup cake moulds... will try it anyway...:)
no spl plans for NY... anga enna spl K?
Sure, will convey ur wishes Aarthii...:)
inge kg classes fees + transportation+ 1 snack will come to around 40-50k P.A... from 1st it'll be around 85-95k(incl tuition, bus, lunch n snacks, sports n arts, yoga etc) ... for KG section they don't teach swimming, yoga...( they do have otehr sports, music n dance etc...)also no lunch, timing kammi... so fees konjam kammi...This is the fee structure in the new CBSE schools in our locality... but I heard there are also good skols(cbse) which charge 1/2 of this fee and a small amt as one-time donation...... those are too far off from our place... so never bothered to enquire abt those... There are also some international skols which charge 1 lakh+ per annum from KG... they follow International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, and/or Cambridge curriculum...so the premium...
skol timing is usually 8.30 or 9 to 12 or 12.30 for KG ... some skols till 2 pm but heard they are also changing timings from this yr... maththa classes will be until 3 or 3.30pm... Most skols offer to take care of KG kids until 3 or 4 pm...no extra charge... great for working parents...also in the skol we have put Sahana in, saturdays also they work... but it's a whole day playday... no books, nothing... most other skols , saturdays are off for KG classes...

Kugan's Kitchen
I tried grilling veges.
I added thick rounds of carrots, potatoes. zucchini,
brinjals , onions and tomatoes.
F ew pips of smashed garlic.
Florets of cauliflower and broccoli.
In a baking dish, I spread out the veges.
I drizzled 1 tbs of olive oil.
sprinkled with pepper power, and fine salt.
Also sprinkled little oregano.
Grilled for about 15 minutes, till lightly brown.
Removed and sprinkled with coriander leaves.
Served hot to the children.
I should not have used the sliced tomatoes.
Cherry tomatoes would have been better.
Thanks, any other way to grill?

Toasted Vegetarian Paninis (kugan)
Here is a recipe, which my sis-in-law used to do in US.
Sorry I do not have a panini maker.
GRILLED VEGETARIAN PANINIS
INGREDIENTS:
Balsamic vinaigrette
1 long eggplant, sliced lengthwise into 1/4″ strips
1 zucchini, sliced lengthwise into 1/4″ strips
1 yellow onion, sliced into 1/4″ rings
Extra-virgin olive oil
4 slices of bread
Hummus
2 roasted red peppers
4 slices cheese
Salt and pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Place eggplant and zucchini in a plastic bag with enough balsamic vinaigrette to coat the vegetables. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preheat panini grill to medium-high heat (375 degrees). Brush olive oil on both sides of onions, season with salt and pepper and place on the grill. Remove eggplant and zucchini from marinade (discard remaining marinade) and place onto the grill as well. Close the lid and grill vegetables for 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
Brush olive oil onto the outer sides of each slice of the bread. On the bottom bread slices (oil side down), spread a layer of hummus. Top with slices of zucchini, eggplant, red pepper, onion, cheese and top bread slice (oil side up).
Grill 3-4 minutes until cheese is melted and golden grill marks appear. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Kugan, they serve dal in big hotels with rotis, do you know how to make?
Also I tasted a mushroom vermicillie soup in a hotel. Please post the recipes if you have. Thanks and come back soon. We all miss you. Gulabjamun.
