Salangai oli won Asian International awards.

The important factor is, Kamal in spite of all the odds being the winner of highest number of national awards. :notworthy:

Kamal's performance in Pushpak lost out to another excellent acting by the protagonist in the film Piravi (the director Shaji N.Karun is a noted film maker and cinematographer from mallu world)

But still, Nadigar thilagam hasn't won a single award. :banghead:

not sure abt other music director i think ir has got 1 not sure

where is mani ratnam,nadigar thilakam shivaji he is the best actor hav nt even got 1 award i think at that time tamil movies hav nt got tat much reach so they hav awarded only 2 hindi actors

ARR - 4 N.A awards(92', 97',01',02')
IR - 3 N.A awards

i would be happy only if ARR wins a oscar or a grammy.......i'm sure he is a talent of that order 8-) but wont help if he keeps working on sivajis,ATMs and sakkarakattis.......he needs to grow vertically and not horizontally :D

ARR definitely deserves many more national awards.

He is really NATIONAL & his music has the all India reach.


North or South, his songs are being heard extensively

I am sure, he will get more national awards. :D

i gave up when i got to know that rahman has won only 4 national awards SO FAR..

if any mallu guy here, i would like to know if the movie 'ponthan mada' deserves an award against gentle man or thiruda thiruda for 1994 :?: also, if may madham, kadhalan or duet any way inferior to the movie that won in 1995.

1999 is the richest year in tems of rahman's music.... en swasa kaatrae, sangamam, taal, kaadhalar dhinam, dhaajmahaal, ,mudhalvan.... still, no award in 2000. yeah okay, hum dil de chuke sanam is in the league of the above films and the decision to award it can be debated, if not justified. but, am definitely sure at least one of kandukondaen kandukondaen, alaipayuthae or rhythm is better than refugee and rahman must have won an award in 2001. Dil Se, rahman's best (imo), couldn't win an award :x

Hi all,

These national awards are a big joke! When people like Sivaji Ganesan, Nagesh, MSV, TMS, PBS and KD were not thought of as capable persons to receive these awards then they are worthless, nothing less.

The big joke is the case of Sunil Dutt who got the award playing the same character etched so beautifully by Sivaji in "Baagapirivinai" six years after the thespian had done it.

And why have various tamil nadu govts ignored MSV and PBS. They don't have even a Padma Shri against their names. Travesty!
