When I say he exploited ARR, again I have to take AE or yuva as an example. The character of Arjun Balakrishnan played by Siddarth and Vivek was one introduced purely to bring ARR's songs into the equation. If you remove that stupid character from the picture you dont lose anything from the script apart from couple of chartbusters from ARR, couple more reasons to sell more Yuva Albums. What did ARR gain by that? He was at that time gasping for more time to do international assignments and had to reduce his involvement in Kisna, which in my opinion would have given him a full super hit if he had been involved fully instead of the dumb Ismail Durbar keeping his left leg in that project. Yuva or AE could have been easily scored by VS or JS or some one else from ARR's school itself. Instead Mani exploited ARR's valuable time on a project that was going on a superfast speed to the dust bin right out of script writer's writing pad. Even now I feel pity that ARR has signed on Guru a movie that can be done without songs with some other music director. ARR's flair is grand musicals and that is not Mani's cup of tea. If Mani had sincerely hoped that ARR is a value add and he should use him poperly then the script should be such. Recently Mani told the world that he wouldn't want to work with Kamal with any other script as he wanted only a script >= Nayagan. I guess, if he doesn't exploit ARR, he would have applied the same logic. Give ARR a script >= Rangeela (musically speaking, not cinematic) then let him collaborate and then I will happily take back my comments.
