6'2" - I guess I watched this last week in K TV :? The movie started pretty well with usual but unique as-well-as fantastic nakkals of Sathyaraj :bow: :bow:
the way he explains CALL-CENTRE jobs is simply :rotfl3: only Sathyaraj fossifle ... gounder might equal it :P
the same way his nakkal with vadivEl in first few scenes were :rotfl:
overall the movie can be watched if u r comfortable with Sathyaraj's lollu :)
Maganadigan - tailor made role for Sathyaraj with poor execution :oops: the movie would have been bettered in comedy with rameshkanna replaced by Gounder under P Vasu direction 8-)

Guru Sishyan - The hit pair is back!

Once again director Shakthi Chidambaram and Sundar.C is going for the title of an old Rajinikanth Film!
The new film produced by Cinema Paradise has been titled after Rajinikanths super hit Guru Sishyan
The new Guru Sishyan will have Sathyaraj, Sundar.C and Vadivel in the lead along with a new sensational glam girl Hema Malini. The film will have music by Dhina and it is said to be a rip roaring comedy laugh riot, with lots of action and fun.
Sakthi Chidambaram has made it clear that he has borrowed only the title of the old Rajinikanth- Prabhu film, and it is not a remake of the earlier film. Sundar.C is pairing with Vadivel once again after the laugh riot Thalai Nagaram.
The shoot of the film has started after the pooja which was held at AVM studio today (July 9) morning. The all new Guru Sishyan will release in December.

அப்ப ஒரு நாள் வேலு பிரபாகரன் பெரியாரோட 'கடவுள்' புத்தகத்தைக் கொடுத்தார். படிக்கப் படிக்க... அன்னிக்கு அந்த புரொஃபஸர் கேட்ட கேள்விக்கான அர்த்தமும் பதிலும் எனக்குப் புரிஞ்சது. அன்னிக்குதான் நான் முழு நாத்திகன் ஆனேன். அதுக்குப் பிறகு நான் மேற்கொண்ட பயணம்தான் எனக்கு 'பெரியார்' படத்தில் நடிக்க வாய்ப்பு கொடுத்தது. அது என் வாழ்நாளுக்கான கௌரவத்தையும் கொடுத்தது!''

It could be that its difficult to mimic Kamal & Rajini, as it would be much easier getting away with mere "tagadu tagadu" as Sathyaraj.
BTW, for a rationalist, he seemed to be a bit gullible. Brando didn't use "prompting" all the time. Just when he is lazy and unprepared or wanted some sense of spontaneity. He did that in Godfather. But he is a stage actor, he knows his lines. He did Shakespeare for Bill's sake!

for bringing old get ups of SR & making it interesting... poor fellow have to leave direction for health reasons in early 90's (note: in the 2nd half of Aanazhagan, someone (looks like Koil Kaalai villain) dubbed for Manivannan) .... & completed Aandan Adimai much later than expected
- You all Like it or not........ Sathyaraj has immense screen presence .. & he is right at the top along with Rajini & Kamal in this aspect
- You all Like it or not........ Sivaji & Sathyaraj has good chemistry & I doubt even Prabhu had this kind of role with Sivaji, on screen
- "Hey Raaja onranoam inru" - one of the best male duets ... I guess Mano is the other one with SPB.. idhu poanra paadalgal ini sathiyama varradhu... aama idhai yean innum remix pannama vechurukkanga :roll:
- SR is lucky to have another good male duet "ennamma kannu"
- In Hey Raaja... song, there comes a line for SR, "manam vellai" -- he does like MGR & also after Killing Malaysia Vasudevan in the race course, he does typical MGR style..... twisting the nose with 2 fingers...... remember he is under Sivaji in this film........ nice gesture :)

Adithadi
THE TITLE is misleading. If you expect Sundari Films' "Adithadi" to be an unending saga of action, fights and frenzy, you are mistaken. An action comedy through and through, the genre has been reasonably well explored by writer-director Shivraj, who makes his debut with the film. Having apprenticed under S. A. Chandrasekaran and T. P. Gajendran, the influence of the action of the former and the humour of the latter is visible in Shivraj's maiden attempt.
Here is one actor who ought to have continued as a villain. If he had, he would have given all the "bad men" a run for their money. The cynicism, conceit, gall and humour that you witnessed and liked in ever so many Satyaraj films including "Khakhi Chattai," "Vikram" and "Mr. Bharat" resurface with an interesting dimension in "Adithadi." A role straight up Satyaraj's alley, and he does full justice to it. Sparing no one, the man has a dig at all and sundry, including himself. The film has an A certification, but for the most part it is replete with the Satyaraj brand of humour. :clap: :thumbsup:
Tirupati (Satyaraj) is a 50-year-old bachelor and a rich underworld don who kills for money. Women, family and sentiments that are expected to go with such a lifestyle, have no place in his scheme of things. Things are smooth till he sets eyes on Priya (Rathi), a college student. Tirupati falls in love with her and tries his best to woo her, in vain.
For a hero, to parade with a bald pate is unthinkable. It calls for guts and Satyaraj has it in plenty. He is not in the least conscious of it till he sets eyes on Priya and even then when he resorts to sporting a wig, he does so with a mocking grin in his own inimitable style. Ever so many scenes can be recapitulated and enjoyed. Satyaraj's expression when he goes to Gemini Ganesan for advice about his romantic pursuits and his first letter to Priya on the lines of Kamal's "Guna" are just two examples. A much-thinned-down Rathi goes beyond the norm of being a mere glamour puss and reveals the right amount of fear, helplessness and anger at Tirupati's overtures. But why did she have to wait so long to make the old man see reason? Napoleon plays a perfect foil to his brother. There's dignity about Napoleon's essay that comes to the fore yet again in "Adithadi." Abbas's is another apt cameo.
But why did director Shivraj have to introduce an item number with flabby girls gyrating to loud music? "Adithadi" gets too crass for words at this point. It not only spoils the pace of the film but leaves an unsavoury taste, served as it is in the midst of some light, intelligent romancing sequences. And the climax is too contrived. It is not clear why Napoleon wants his brother to perform 100 marriages free! Technical credits include R. Selva (camera), Uday shankar (editing) and Shiva Yadav (art).
Going by the credits, with "Adithadi" "Thenisai Thendral" has also become "Isai Brahma." But as far as the compositions are concerned, there's very little by way of melody to supplement the title that goes with Deva's name.
You could double up in laughter, guffaw at the hero's audacity or wrinkle your nose in disgust at certain points, but surely you cannot ignore the film that reminds you so much of the `villainous' Satyaraj of yore.

Sathyaraj is having a dream run ever since he chose not to do stereotype hero running around trees romancing.
The tall actor, who was part of over 100 films, is currently sharing the screen with Sundar C in Guru Sishyan directed by Sakthi Chidambaram.
His other movie Sinam features Navadeep as hero. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Sathyaraj would share the screen with Sarathkumar for an untitled movie to be directed by Sanjay Ram.

One thing that no one can guess in TFI is, when Sathyaraj & Vijayakanth will be out of this industry, as a lead actor & re-enter to do allakai roles.
This is not a direct comparison between their talents.. but as discussed sometime ago.. it is about their knack of sustaining in this field which is ever competitive.

Sathyaraj is now acting in a super hit film named "GURU SISHYAN"
U all can ask me, how can u say this film is super hit while in shooting, that too for a Sathyaraj & Sundar film directed by 3rd grade commercial director Sakthi chidambaram?
I saw the "poojai" & related function for this film & it was attended by Hansraj Saxena of Sun TV. He hinted that, Sun tv might purchase this film & asked director to film it in a limited budget.

Nice to see Adithadi review reposted here. I think its an underrated film and Sathyaraj was awesome in it.

And your VK/SR comparison. It would be more curious to see how VK is going to sustain his position. Sathyaraj is already making foray into character roles. I think he'd be comfortably moving on to the type of roles that Prabhu is doing now...but looks like Ilayar Thilagam is overdoing it.

But my personal favourite of SR is Kadalora Kavaithaigal. I loved his performance in that movie more than any other movie in his career simply because the second half of Chinappa Das was out of his comfort zone. 8-)

As for Walter Vetrivel...nah, I didn't like the performance. The way he says, "Walter! Walter Vetrivel" Yuck! I'd revisit the film for annan only. His "chemistry" with the sober Vijayakumar is awesome!
And yeah, kadalora Kavithaigal was wonderful. A lot need to be talked about Kadamai Kanniyam Kattupaadu too. We must thank Kamal for giving him that role.
I have seen KKK just once and almost forgot the plot of the movie... Must revisit it soon. KH normally doesn't compliment an actor that easily unless he/she is worth it. But he rates SR highly as an actor alongside Nasser & Delhi Ganesh. :)

It has been long time since I saw this film. I know this was the film which gave big break for Sathyaraj as a lead actor.
Somehow, I am not satisfied with his "songi" kind of portrayal in the second half.
But I liked some of his serious roles mentioned in the list.
Walter Vetrivel ---- its more of a serious policeman with more family emotions.... even Sathyaraj himself laughing about the way he say, "vEl... vetrivEl... walter vetrivEl" :lol:
