A query on Paadum Vaanambadi's 'I am a disco dancer song', I guess this was a re-make of Mithun Chakraborthy's Disco Dancer(1982). I heard the singer in the original Hindi version was a not-too-well-known person called Vijay Benedict. Can any Hindi specialists(Saravanan/Naaz) confirm this?
Of course, Paadum Vaanambaadi also had the exhorting number, Vaazhum varai Poraadu(singer??)

Btw, did you know that SJ’s granddaughter is called Amrithavarshini? Of course, SJ’s classic ‘Azhagiya megangal’ from Ganga Gowri is always held as a brilliant example of Amrithavarshini in film music.

Music4ever, live4ever! am taking Jeevan Dhara on ur behalf for reminding me of Love me Dear after 20 years :-) SPB's rendition is unforgettable. I also remember how Naan Thaayumanaavan was a regular number which rang out through the entire neighborhood on several afternoons. After casually downloaded Salangayittal oru maadhu, I was pleasantly delighted to recollect this oft-heard tune.
Saravanan, I casually went thru ur listing of Discodancer songs and was suddenly thrilled to see the catchy Koi yahan aa nache nache. Apt recipe on a sleepy afternoon!
Boy, it is really DIFFICULT to read the listing of songs here and recollect, unless the tune strikes you immediately on reading the lyrics :)

Thanks of those follow-ups. Here are some more songs and they lead me to a totally different age, out of this world…how one longs for that time to return. Those fun filled days when one was just in school. In the Radio ceylon, it would be the Pongum Poompunal program at 7 in the morning when you can hear all the new songs. There were programs like Isaiyum Kadaiyum where tear jerker stories were narrated along with some songs(?). And all through Sunday you would have programs like the Top 7(what was that called???) compered by Abdul Hameed and K S Rajah and the night Olichithiram featuring a film spread over two days. M4ever..........Just listening to that Simla Spl song...the tune is a fabulous one , pure liquid honey ,SPB and SJ crooning away. A fantastic piece by MSV. My fav environ is a rainy afternoon very dark ( raining cats and dogs really , the Indian monsoon rains, like what it was in the late 70's-early 80's, I havent seen rains like that since then) curled up on a sofa, with a plate of bhajji or pakora's and then hear all these songs...........makes me nostalgic more so being miles away from India moreso south TN. This is one way I relive the past.....Sorry for being carried away, back to the songs..:-)
