Another SJ-MV duet but very much in contrast to yesterday's pick. 'paruva kaalangaLin' is a breezy westernised duet and 'kettaalum' is a rustic, folkish, sweet and innocent duet.
'sattaiyilla pambaram' has saritha ,sivakumar, vinuchakravarthy etc in the lead(Todays song picturised on these 3). Story/screenplay was by KBakyaraj. I have watched the film but donot remember much. The song was a popular one in MadrasB but i later discovered many are not aware of this song. I love the lyrics and the way GA sings the song at the end.
'nenjil poo manjangaL' is another jazzy duet by SJ-MV from SIP.

Is it Vinuchakravarthy? I think it is Sangili Murugan! Cho, SamikaNNu also were in the cast. Directed by Murugesh(?), K.Bhagyaraj's assistant. The dialog I remember from this movie is "Iruvarum sErndhu ishtappattu kashtappaduvadharkku peyar thaan kaadhal"

Yesterday the expectant dad and mom expressed the dreams and ambitions for their soon to arrive kid.
Today the dad is away from his family on a mission. In the midst of it he receives the good news of his son's birth. He shares his joy
with friends and strangers. The poetic lyrics very well expresses the longings of the new dad and SPB sings it with his usual style.
As far as i know 'andhi nera' is the only duet by SPB and JC. IMO their voices do not gel very well. IK was also the first solo film for Gyan(of Manoj gyan jodi). couple of years ago Manoj bhatnakar did music for films like endrendum kaadhal and a prashanth-riya sen film(both films were produced by Manoj himself :) ).
Ramki: Vandichakkaram had Sivakumar, Saritha and VC. Not sure if you're thinking of that!

Soothing song that nicely fits the movie situtation.
Manoj's second movie is Good luck. 'Bad Luck' would've been more appropriate, I think he got cleaned up after this movie.

This is a slower version of the original. You might not have listened to this version very often. I'm not sure at what point this song is played in the film(climax?). Except for a guitar sound, the whole song is based on PS strong and sweet voice and as always she does her job effeciently.

Ramki: I'm not sure but think this song is played when Vanishri sees her son Sivaji for the first time! Sivakamiyin selvan is the only movie where Latha paired with Sivaji.

The humming in the long version of en raajavin is simply superb.
magan periyavanaagi eppadi ellaam varanum nu amma kanavu kaanbadhu pola lyrics (in the long version) is very realistic.. atleast for me. :)

I don't know which is sadder: Vanisree ironing Sivaji's coat, or the fact that it is Sivaji's coat that she is ironing. :P

Madhu, I am not sure of the scene. Why would they play a mother-son song as a background of a romantic scene. Moreover the full song comes later when Vani is widowed and sings for Kutti Sivaji. Unless Rajendra Prasad thought it differently. Some pieces of "Ullam Irnadu" in PS-s voice would have been more apt.
Susheela brings a unique sweetness to the song.

I used to look forward to en rAjAvin rOjA mugam, the other version of course, to play on the radio, along with some other PS solos of that time such as kalaimagaL kai poruLE, inRu vantha inba mayakkam, maNamEdai malargaLudan dhIpam, Andavanin thOttaththilE and many more songs I can't rmemeber the lines right now. And a whole bunch of TMS solos such as in Enga Maama, Babu, Vegulinppen, pUvinum melliya pUngkodi, uLLam reNdum, etc. One of the best times in TFM history.

The father gets sick after hearing the sufferings of his daughter. She is abused by her husband, The husband the father chose for her against her wishes.
Rangarao, Rajasulochana and MRRadha played those characters.
I remember watching bits and pieces of this film on DD. If i remember correctly RS had a dual role in Kavitha.
Rajasulochana , like pushpalatha, altered between playing second leads and main lead. She has played the heroine for likes of MGR and Sivaji. But who in the gods name would have imagined her doing the vamp role in Gayathri? Her on screen leelais with Rajinikanth was just nauseating.
She was in the news recently for chasing her husband out of her house.

PS at her absolute best. Her voice expresses every tiny feeling the character experiences at that juncture. It shows love, trust, lust , fear, joy all in correct proportions . kaNNadasan too expresses all those feelings in his lines. MSV's melodious music and tune makes this song immortal.
PS...Sugame, Sugame! No gimmicks, no ah-oh-chee, no pandering to the pits. What a class act for a seduction song! This one leaves LMs hindi version panting to catch up! MSV strums with such delicacy!

Rare composistion and I think well ahead of that time. just close your eyes and listen the interlude, you can feel the silence of night .
I think this song picturised in rainy day where shivaji and major happily coming back to home after remebering childhood days.
I feel something difference in this song and I am not able to express.
