Very good writeup on Parasakthi
The film is "Thiruvarutchelvar" and the song is "Naadar mudi melirukkum nalla paambe".Quote:

Muthuraman and his wife, hiding their grief, serve food to the saint. On enquiry, NT learns about the demise of their son. A furious NT, takes the corpse to the temple and sings before the deity. In the song he vents out his ire towards the snake ('aadhi sivan thalai amarndha aanavamaa? avan angamellam vilayaadum dhairiyamaa?' etc). At the end of the song he orders the snake, in the name of God, to take back the venom from the body and give him a fresh lease of life (nenjam maarividu, pillayai vaazha vidu) and finally the snake obeys his orders.
If you listen to this song carefully, you will appreciate the spectacular voice modulation of the veteran TMS, especially during the rendering of "nenjam maarividu pillayai vaazha vidu". At this point it will be a humble request. Then the tone changes to that of an order, where he invokes God and orders the snake to give life to the boy.
The scene, of course with the imposing presence of NT, is a visual treat too.

Sarada madam,
Thanks for info ..Looks like few NT movies ran more days in Srilanka than in TN..
Uththaman
Pilot Premnath
Vasantha Maligai.
Any other?

Dear NOV,
Sorry. Actually I don't have details because it is more than 20 - 25 years since I have last seen this movie and whenever it was screened in TV, I was not able to watch it. So whatever I remembered, I wrote the same. If you remember we were discussing about watching the movies in VCD/DVD and I had strongly advocated Theatre watching. Now since it has almost become impossible to watch old movies in theatre, I had started collecting VCD/DVDs and watching it. To start with I watched Niraikudam and KPB and wrote about the same and I have completed 2, 3 movies more out of which I intend to write about one (as the other two were widely discussed here). Hopefully I can procure Vadivukku Valaikappu and write about it.

Dear Madhu,
Arivaali was a successful movie but not up to the requisite level. Again the problem was Aalaya Mani was successfully running when Arivaali was released and it was followed by Iruvar Ullam again a huge hit and it was followed by Kulamagal Radhai and Paar Magalae Paar. So you can imagine how Arivaali would have suffered.
Dear Joe,
Srilanka was/is always a strong fort of NT and as for as I know, no other actor before or after him had commanded such a following.
Dear Saradhaa,
After these many years we can only feel sorry that so many good fims suffered because of such happenings. While writing about AOS and Deepam, I failed to mention one thing. While AOS was released on Pongal day, Rojavin Raja was just 3 weeks old, it having been released on 24.12.1976. So not only AOS but RR also suffered. As everyone is aware Rojavin Raja was a good and enjoyable movie (Raghavendran Sir, your favourite) with NT- Vanishree combo doing it beautifully ( Alankaram Kalayatha & Janakin Magalai). But what to do, it didn't get the success it deserved and ended as a 50 day movie.
Regards
Dear PR,
You were asking about NT's comedy scenes in KPB. Overall he would have presented his part laced with humour. Particular scenes where his ability to do comedy gets reflected are
1. He and Padmini would plan the marriage of TRR with Ragini. He would initially speak about the upperhand that males hold over females and Padmini would admonish him and gives the details of the plan, his face would change and slowely reflecting an obedient servant's emotions would say he would do it as a " Padmini Bakthan " bending his arm and his face. Nice scene.
2. He would wait near Padmini's house hoping to catch a glimpse of her and to have a word with her. She would take out a piece of paper write about the meeting place, will take a paper weight and wound the paper around it and throw it at him. This will hit him on his head and the paper will fly away. He will turn around and see her and then realise about the paper. By this time it would have landed on the garbage lorry and he would jump on it and try to retrieve the paper. The cleaner boy asks him " Ethavathu mukkiyamanathai vittuteengala", he would keep his face in a ashta konal manner and say " En uyirae ithulathan irukku". Having replied that he would find the vechile moving and his efforts to jump off would be hilarious.
3. Ragini after dressing herself as an American retuned lady would occupy the house opposite NT's. She would sing a lovely song "Vennilla -- (by Bharadhi Dasan) sitting on the balcony. Seeing this TRR would like to do the same but he cannot sing. So he would sit and lip sync whereas NT would be sitting by the side and singing. (Since this was released in 1954, this should have come first before Adutha Veetu Penn where this scene is replicated or is it the other way round?) Ragini finds out and you should see NT's face expressions changing.
4. The other song Jolly Life (sung by Chandra babu) would also be good watch when NT and TRR share their happiness.
On the whole it was an effortless performance from NT.
