Usha, thanks for your kind words.
If you haven't listed this song earlier, you must certainly do so. It's "Vaan Meedhiley" from Raagangal Maaruvathillai. This film released in 1983 and starred Prabhu. I have always loved this song since my childhood. It's got superb percussion, flute, great stanza negotiations, awesome funk etc but what really stands out is the guitar work...it's a lesson by the maestro!! Check it out...

Shank,
Thanks for pointing to this song. One more of the glorious songs that I have missed. Excellent singing by Janaki as usual. The bass is up with his best work and the drummer must have enjoyed himself. I wonder whether such drummers can now drum on the synth pad :( Superb acoustic drumming in the song. Everything you say is right and as it happens with a Raja song, after you have said everything, there is still something more to say. Thanks once again for this gem.
Usha,
By sheer coincidence the gem you have posted rivals the one posted by Shank. Lovely drumming here as well and superb bass work. Love the way sax comes in once in a while. Janaki in top form. I am more than sure that the whole team must have enjoyed themselves during the making of this song. There seems to something for everyone. Can't think of such collaboration in the current times where everyone works in isolation.
Happy to hear two such high quality songs at one go. Keep it up.
Thanks Suresh...I'm a great fan of Raja and I'm happy if I can help you and others discover more of his magic. These songs provide so much unadulterated joy that it's worth sharing.
Here's another one...you might have heard it before. It's "Roja Ondru" from the film "Oh Maane Maane". It starred Mohan and Urvasi, I believe.
The prelude of this track is magical...it is so tight and superbly orchestrated. I love the singing of SPB and SJ in this number. While SPB is all konjal, Janaki also lends to the playfulness and at times sounds like Jency. IR has composed a completely seperate bassline for the song and it accompanies the melody wonderfully. Also, check the end of the second interlude...the guitar work transition into the stanza. I consider such moments as though Raja is personally putting his signature on them (like a signature moment)...displaying his genius.

Shank,
I have heard this song earlier. (Would be a jailable offense if I had not :) ) Fantastic song. You are absolutely on dot with regards to all aspects of the song. No wonder that those who have embraced this man can never let go of him.
