Another inspired tune by SG. PS voice sounds so husky and sweet(and she never overdoes it).
'Deiva piravi' is tamil remake of 'tohfa' (sridevi, jayapradha,jitendra) and tohfa was remake of a telugu hit directed by raghavendra rao(the title keeps eluding me).
Vijays 'ninaithen vandhai' was also inspired from the same film.
In tamil Mohan, urvasi and Radhika(i think) were the actors. I guess urvasi did sridevi's role and radhika did jp's.
Deivapiravi had couple more average songs. (sorry nope can't remember any of them:))

Gangai nadhiyoram - KJY with VJ , one of the melodious songs. I think it was composed by GK venkatesh or Vijayabaskar, I am not sure. By the way, do you want to know who was behind that song ???
It was none other than the one and only Ilayaraja !!!

DP had 5 duets. Bulk order to PS. All by her (4 with SPBalu, One with JC).

I am not able to listen to this song. But I doubt whether it was sung by Jayachandran OR SPBalu? There are 4 other songs mArappu potta, mounam ennum, nil nil, pAnayile kAl. I thought these are sung by PS with SPBala.

SG did a good job for a lousy movie. I think Rama Naidu produced the movie. Two songs with Mohan and Oorvasi was with very rich background. 1000 kudam / pAnai behind...

Sivaji-Padmini Deiva Piravi enga? Idhu enga?

Radhika was atrocious throughout the movie. ho that death-bed scene... ellam Odi vandhuduvAnga... :lol:

The telugu original was 'Devata' -- Shoban Babu, Sri and Jaya. Hindi movie was bad too..

I believe some of the songs by SG was lifted from the original SG songs..

I Saw the Hindi version of the song, really good. I don't think the tamil version doesn't even come close to the hindi version.

I know the hindi tune! However, the name of the film and composer escapes me (Here's an educated guess: It was a telugu remake in Hindi and starred Jeetendra :lol: And the MD would be the duo L-P or the singular Bhappi Lahiri...I also feel that his music was equally "garish" for these tel-2-hindi transfers!! So let me bet on BL!)
Tohfa was a reworking of Kalyana Parisu, wrapped in heavy-duty jigna-dust!
And I look forward to the requested duet !

Gangai Nadhi Oram is an evergreen tune. The MD was R. Govardhanam, I think.

Naaz 'poovai' sounds very similar to 'poovo poNNo poovizhi maano'(pudhu yugam-GA). I'm not sure which came first

Thanks to KVM,TMS, PB and Marudhakasi, a simple folk tune sound so grand. The lyrics charmingly brings out the innocence and romance of village folks. What a contrast to the vulgar lyrics by current lyricists.
MPM was one of the best albums by KVM for a sivaji film.
'Manapaarai veedu katti', 'ondru serndha anbu maaruma' , 'mayanghaadha manam yaavum mayangum' are some of the hit numbers from MPM.
I think MPM was the first movie by APN, coule be wrong though.
